My elderly mother made first contact and arrangements. When they arrived, they said "I thought we were dealing with an elderly person" like maybe they planned all along to rip her off! Was informed I had no insurance other than little more than $1 a pound and that it would take at least 2 days to arrange for the normal replacement value insurance (alarms were going off, but I ignored them because I'd taken a precious day off from work already).

They didn't bring packing materials, and wasted time to go get them. They insisted on packing and moving all on the same day saying they'd have to charge me overtime rates for all hours over the maximum. Took alot of insisting to split the work: pack first day, move the next. They refused repeated requests that they itemize items as they packed (got the "deer in the headlights" look as if they had no clue what I was talking about), and they refused to count or even number the boxes - assuring me repeatedly that it wasn't necessary. They purposely hid 2 crystal objects in china cabinets that were "empty" (found one item in time; one irreplaceable family heirloom was destroyed).

One "packer" just dumped things in boxes - result: warped books. Asked a packer to locate the box(s) with my videos/DVDs and put it in my van (he didn't). When moving my belongings from one house to the next, they led me on a high-speed wild goose chase in the wrong direction, forcing me to run a red light to catch up to them. They thought it was immensely funny (I didn't).

One mover queried my minor daughter about whether she had panties in her dresser drawer - told her he had a panty fetish! Same person ogled me and asked if I wanted to go out with him! Several wood/antique furniture items are damaged. Foreman complained constantly about carrying heavy items and about how hard they were having to work to move my possessions (like it was so unusual for a mover to do such a thing!). Had to call their "base" and argue with both the manager and the billing person about grossly incorrect billing calculations.

Probably still was overcharged. Foreman informed me (with a twitchy corner-of-the-mouth smile) that I only had two days to report missing items. Many items are missing and unaccounted for after finally getting unpacked (took longer than 2 days, of course). All commercially made video tapes and DVDs are the most obvious missing items - somehow all "taped from TV" videos arrived safely. Foreman left "to get everyone lunch" on the first day, returned empty handed, and later insisted on charging me for the hour he was gone saying he'd make it up to me somehow! I suspect he visited a pawn shop during that hour instead of buying the food he promised everyone. When I asked where the food was, he said he didn't have any money. Bad experience all around.

an issue of trust

AUTHOR: Customer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2004

Regla,
I am having trouble with believing that I can trust you to help me resolve the theft of my property by your employees, which is why you haven't heard back from me until now. As others have said, you argue about everything and do not put the customer first, which is the first rule for getting referrals and/or repeat business. Frankly, I can't tell anyone else what to do, but I will never hire All My Sons again, and I doubt if I will hire any other moving company again without first installing hidden cameras. You say now that I could have gotten insurance at any time before they loaded boxes on the truck. This is not true. You, yourself, told me that I couldn't get insurance without 2 days notice. This was before the men ever stepped foot inside my house, and the day before any boxes were supposed to be put on the truck. You can't have it both ways, Regla. Which one is it? No matter what, I should never have had to worry about theft of my property. Your employees were supposed to be professionals "with a family member on each truck". I can't imagine who that family member might have been... unless it was the argumentative complainer who appeared to be in charge. Except for the fact that he charged me for the hour that he was gone, in an attempt to cover up, I have no way of knowing if you were aware/unaware of their plans. What other reason would there have been to refuse me insurance when your desire as a business operator should be to do everything to protect your customer and to be above board in all your dealings? I had a bad feeling about your company after talking to you about the lack of insurance that first day. I should have trusted my instincts and told your crew to get off my property! BTW, they tried multiple times to get me to sign papers that were not true and I repeatedly refused. I wouldn't be surprised if the papers you have on file do not match mine. Yours most likely show that I signed everything (and, if so, this would also be illegal).
Frankly, I have lost alot of sleep over this. First, there is no guarantee that you or your employees won't find some way to retaliate against me, my family, and/or my home. I was intimidated by both you and your employees during the moving process, why should I think that I will be treated with any more respect and compassion now? Second, I've lost alot of sleep over worrying that if I don't do something, there will likely be other victims, and I don't want that on my conscience (do you?). So, I'm stuck in the middle. I started once to report you to the Better Business Bureau. Their recording said that a review of your file was in progress, so I left my cell phone# and asked them to call me, not knowing that my brand new phone was incorrectly set up to not receive calls and could only call out. I also wrote a lengthy letter to the All My Sons corporate headquarters that was never sent - I did call to ask who to send it to and what address to use... I should have called the police and had them check pawn shop records, but fear of retaliation paralyzes me and this is exactly what thieves count on...

Employees are sheisty

AUTHOR: Kathleen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 06, 2004

I have, on many occasions, seen an All My Sons moving truck parked at the gas station down the road from my house around lunchtime and I have seen the back open with employees making themselves appear suspicious by looking at or around the boxes in the back. Maybe this is something that the company sould think about before saying that the customers' concerns are unfounded.

Why all the complaints?

AUTHOR: Pat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 23, 2004

Regla,

It seems that not only do you argue with your customers over the phone, you also do it here on this forum. Why all the complaints if your family -owned business cares about the customer so much?

Your comments are only serving to further damage your credibility.

"Trained Professional" THIEVES!

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 23, 2004

I completely sympathize with the client in Greenbelt, MD who levied the above complaint against "All My Sons Moving" in Savage, MD.

My husband and I had a similar experience and have posted our complaint on this website separately.

The office manager's contention that their "movers are trained professionals, these are not guys that are picked up off the street" should be viewed with complete suspicion.

The foreman on our job said he lived in the projects near Baltimore and claimed the two other movers were his *relatives*! They also admitted they had no previous moving experience and hated their moving jobs!

They STOLE from us when it took them THIRTEEN HOURS to move us from our tiny Cape Cod home (which was completely packed up by us and ready to go.

I found the movers frequently sitting down, taking breaks and I felt they were moving very, very slowly when they were working. One of the boys (yes, boys!) was so obese, he became frequently short of breath.

My husband and I began to assist the movers, hoping to pick up the pace, but the foreman confronted me and asked us to stop, stating that there were legal implications if we got hurt, etc. We helplessly watched the movers continue to sit down, take breaks and have casual conversation while the clock was ticking.

When I again began to pick up boxes to bring them outside, the foreman asked me to stop, saying that I was making him feel like they weren't doing their job.

I then made a deal with the foreman, saying that there was a handsome tip in it for them if they moved us by 4 PM. The foreman said he would tell the other movers. Ironically, the pace of the move slowed down even further at that point.

When we finally arrived at our new home, the two younger movers stopped working altogether. Instead, they began to play darts in our garage. When I complained again to the foreman, he asked them to help, but they simply unloaded boxes from the moving truck into our garage at that point.

This meant that several well-marked boxes, meant to be delivered elsewhere in the house, simply got dumped in the garage area. (It took us weeks to sort through it all since there were also several other boxes deposited into the wrong rooms in the house.)

After all we went through with this company, they should refund our ($2000+) entirely.

My constructive solution to this is, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are obviously repeat offenders and should be put out of business.

manger - calls all of our customers to confirm the move

AUTHOR: Regla - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 19, 2004

All My Sons calls all of our customers to confirm the move. This procedure is done 2-3 days prior to the move to make sure we have the correct information and also to make sure the customer is still moving. There have been several occassions when a customers settlement has fallen through or customers need to postpone the move for another day. Regardless of when a move is scheduled, we call all of our customers to confirm.

I am a mother of 3 children and if I beleived someone asked to see my childrens panties or spoke to my children rudely or beligerently, at the very least this person would have been removed from my home and/or the police would have been called and I would have lodge a complaint with the police. Again, this accusation is outrageous and despicable.

Our movers are trained professionals, these are not guys that are picked up off the street. I find it hard to believe that trained professionals would need directions from a 17 year old child to move a couch or any other piece of furniture that they move on a daily basis.

Again, as per our contract we do have claims procedures that needs to be followed. If the author of this report would like to file a claim, please submit your claim in writing along with a copy of the Bill of Lading to ALL MY SONS and we will evalate your claim based on the coverage you choosee prior to the move.

Employee Claims are false

AUTHOR: April - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 18, 2004

I am the daughter of the original author of this report. I know for a fact that there was never a call made to us about the move (claim made by "employee"), and i know that they were very unprofessional. I was 17 at the time and a 30-some large man asked me what kind of panties i wore and if there were some in the drawer that he could get to. The movers would run an antique piece of furnature into a wall or ceiling and then laugh about it. I had to instruct them on how to get a couch through the front door, as if they didn't have the intelligence to know to turn it or it won't fit. Two movers were working on that couch for about 45 min that they could have been doing something else productive.

On the second day, a completely different foreman showed up to our house and was very rude. He had a "matter-of-fact" attitude and was very mean. While he was "explaining" extra charges to my mother, I noticed something about the situation and I started to tell her and the foreman said, "Shut up, this has nothing to f*****g do with you." When my mother finally heard what I had to say, she called up the manager and found out that it was a completely bogus charge that he was trying to make us pay that they had no record of. This company has been a menace to my family and all I want are my belongings back. This has taken up enough of our lives and created too much stress.

We do criminal investigations on our employees

AUTHOR: Regla - Manager - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 14, 2004

We here at All My Sons Moving & Storage take great pride in our profession and take every precaution to ensure each and every move is performed with the utmost care and professionalism.

We do criminal investigations on our employees and have not had any calls or complaints for lewd behavior, including whomever submitted this report. We find these accusations outrageous and despicable. This type of accusation would have been handled promptly and properly if we would have been notified. We need a copy of the Bill of Lading or Freight Bill to locate the author of this report and to investigate these accusations, if indeed All My Sons provided moving services.

We offer standard or replacement coverage for each and every move. We use an outside insurance company for replacement coverage and any customer can purchase replacement coverage while the movers are at the residence, prior to loading the furniture on the truck.

We call all of our customers to confirm the move to ensure we have all the proper information and also to see if any other services are needed. We keep a limited amount of packing materials on the trucks, just in case a customer needs a few items packed. However if a customer wants full packing services, this should be requested prior to the arrival of the crew so we can bring ample supples for the packing or if needed, schedule the packing on a separate day from the moving.

As for claims, as per our contract, Section 2B claims must be submitted in writing within 9 months after delivery, not 2 days. All My Sons is still opened to settling this claim. Again, we would need a copy of our Bill of Lading or Freight Bill to validate this move.

All My Sons is a family owned and operated business and we pride ourselves in customer satisfaction and refute the accusations made on your web site by the individual(s) whose identity is unknown.
