I took my car in for a 'surging' problem, no power and acting like it's not getting any fuel when trying to pass. I was told by Tracy Brody that I would need a diagnostic check @ $44.90 to determine the problem... After 4 hours they finally said I needed a tune up, new wires, new ignition coil set and a fuel filter. I asked if that would fix the problem and was assured that it would (the cost was $623).

Didn't get the car back until 6pm that day, and had to walk the 21/2 miles in 100 degree weather (since they couldn't pick me up). When I got there, I was exhausted and wanted to get my car and get out. I got the paperwork and keys, nothing was said about my car, and I left. Two days later it started to do the same thing again, I called, was told to bring it in (I will now lose $125 in pay because I had to take the day off). This time they found a bushing wasn't installed and "that should fix the problem". This time they mentioned that the fuel pump pressure was low, and I may need to change that later... I asked how much that will be and was told "let's not worry about that now"

After 8 hours of waiting they finally installed the bushing and I was on my way... this still didn't fix the problem. Took it in for a 3rd time and this time they finally decided that it was the fuel pump. By this time, I was about ready to explode. they wanted $450 to install a pump. I asked them why they just didn't say it was the pump the first time... they said that it was still withing specs but on the low end. My thought is if the car is acting like it's not getting fuel and the fuel pump is on the low end of the specs, why not just change the pump. They seem to worry too much about the diagnostic computer readings even though it didn't show the fuel pump as any problem.

I've had 3 mechanics since then tell me, they have had bad reports about all tune and lube not doing a good repair and that the fuel pump would have been the first thing they would have changed.

While I was there waiting the 8+ hours, I saw customers coming in asking for a tune up, they had a coupon which showed 6cyl tune up at $39, I never saw anyone quoted that price, the price they quoted was always $89 to $119, the cars all seemed to need platinum plugs, and was never just a regular tune up... everyone seemed upset at the ripoff and left.

A $9 oil change cost one customer $29 because the "fiter wasn't included and the 10w40 oil was extra"

This place is a total ripoff, they never honor their coupons without adding something to it.
When a customer complains, they get attitude like they are children.

Don't go there and matter of fact don't go to any All Tune & Lube locations.

You didn't know anyone who could have given you a ride? I doubt you walked 21.5 miles in 100 degrees. Assuming you fast walked the whole way, and you averaged around 4 mph, you'd walk for around 5 hours. Nobody does that unless they're stuck somewhere, especially when it's 100 degrees out.

Here's how "reality world" works

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Your car had run issues. ATL did a tune-up. That is normal procedure for any run issue. If your complaint is low oil pressure, then the first thing to do is check the oil level. Changing the oil with the proper grade is a normal procedure, even if it does not solve the issue. If the problem is poor run performance, the tune-up is done first, even if it does not solve the issue. In your case, the tune-up did.

When they replaced your fuel filter, two things happened. First, the fuel was able to flow at the correct volume and pressure. Second, this also allowed the fuel pump to spin at a much faster speed than it had been. That is what caused the pump to go bad. It happens very often. It happens because the owner of the car does not maintain his/her car properly. The fuel filter should be changed every 12K-15K miles, not when the car finally stops working.

Now, there is no such thing as a $39 tune-up. A tune-up is supposed to put the fuel and ignition systems back to "like new" condition. It is intended to make the engine run perfectly. You cannot get a single cylinder lawnmower tuned for that price. The typical 4 cylinder tune-up can be done for $150, MINIMUM. Most engines use double platinum, iridium, or laser platinum plugs. These will increase the price accordingly. Companies that advertise make-believe prices know what they are doing, and know their customers are looking for CHEAP. After the car is torn down, CHEAP leaves town, and the "reality-world" price suddenly appears. It's the same with the fake pricing($99 4 wheel) at the brake job guys. These shops look for the WalMart crowd, and get them. Good shops look for the customers who spend money, and know that nothing is FREE. They also advertise "reality world" pricing, and the mechs drive nice cars, not junkers. A $9 oil change? Are you even from this planet?

ATL had no responsibility to drive you anywhere.

My Husband and I own the All Tune and Lube in Fredericksburg, Va., and we TOTALLY RESENT being lumped together with other ATL's in other states across the country who have provided bad service to their customers.

I REALIZE THIS CUSTOMER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT THE ALL TUNE AND LUBE IN THEIR STATE, AND WE ARE VERY VERY SORRY FOR THEIR TROUBLE, HOWEVER, TO LUMP TOGETHER ALL ATL BUSINESS OWNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY IS NOT FAIR.

We know first hand how the All Tune and Lube Franchise works and I am not condoning what the All Tune and Lube in your State did to you, however, I CAN tell you in their defense, that the All Tune and Lube International Franchise DOES promote the kind of practices that you experienced. OWNER of another All Tune and Lube in Northern Virginia

AUTHOR: Susan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 23, 2007

Ed from Fontana, California,

While I agree totally with what you say about this establishment and how they more then likely misdiagnosed your problem, I DO NOT agree with your statement telling others to NOT go to ANY All Tune and Lube. Like any business venture, it will only be successful if you are knowledgeable about the product you are selling, or have employees who are knowledgeable in what they do. Right. Well, with the All Tune and Lube International franchise, it is unfortunate that they rope in potential franchisee's and tell them they don't need any experience in automotive repair, etc. Most franchisee's will fail because of this ridiculous way that ATL International lures potential franchisee's. Fortunately for us, my husband had been in the automotive business for years and knew what he was getting into when we purchased this franchise. We HATE that we are associated with this franchise, however, it was a way to get into our own business. We still struggle, but we have VERY knowledgeable technicians who KNOW what they are doing. We depend on the GOOD feedback that our customers tell to others after doing repairs or even a simple oil change. I know you are angry and you should be!!! But please don't lump ALL All Tune and Lube's into the same category with the one you went to and had this really BAD experience. There are ATL shops across the country that are very reputable and GREAT at what they do!!
We take pride in every oil change, auto repair, etc. that we do. We let our customers know that too. I am VERY sorry for your bad experience. It was truely unfortunate!

Sincerely, an ATL Owner in Northern Virginia

look at this logically

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

If you knew anything about cars and entered this problem as a team effort. you would appreciate the fact that they did not come at you with $2000 worth of repairs just hoping that something they did would fix this. instead they did what they thought would take care of the problem and let you take the car. when you continued to have more problems they went deeper. I guess you cant appreciate this. Just take you car to a tire shop and see what a grocery list you will get. And as far as them coming to pick you up, have you ever heard of a taxi??? Why is it their resposibility to come and get you. And concerning the price of other peaples tune ups. First, its none of your business. Second, maybe these cars did have platinum plugs. Do you know what a transvers mounted engine is??? With your attitude I bet you dont. Well, platinum plugs and a transvers mounted engine will make the tune up more than the rock bottom price on the coupon. Grow up....
