We received a bill from Alyon on May 2, 2003 that had been forwarded from our previous address for over $500. Charges for viewing an adult content web site. Well isn't that interesting, read on and you will see why.

We relocated to another state over 1100 miles away in July of 2002. The billing phone number on this "bill" was relinquished by us in July of 2002 when we moved and our previous residence was sold. If you do the math, that was nearly 10 months ago.

Wow, that was one long connection line to a disconnected phone number!?!? The only reason we received this "bill" is because meager amounts of mail are still being forwarded from our old address.

Obviously, this is not our bill. It's also obvious that Alyon did not request or receive proper information nor permission from the current subscriber to our old phone number to be able to bill anyone for anything!

So, today i contacted Alyon at 201-865-7600 to dispute this "bill". After asking me to hold, the "gentleman" informed me that according to their database, we held that phone number at that address. Excuse me Mister but your database is incorrect was my answer.

He then informed me that I needed to send a copy of our final bill for that number to Alyon in order for ME to PROVE that this was no longer our number. Excuse me Mister, but isn't it Alyon that needs to prove that we owe this????

When I asked how they could just pull names and numbers from any old database and bill that person without permission, I was told that they had permission from whoever clicked on the web site. HUH?

I was then told that this wasn't our bill and it belonged to the person who now has that number. NO KIDDING?!?! Oh but, in order for them to do anything about this, I still have to send in the proof of our final bill to that number.

Well now, didn't he just tell me that it wasn't our bill but We're being billed because they had permission? So, here was my final response to this "gentleman".

First, I told him that he needed to prove the validity of this bill to me. Second, I do have all the proof I need to prove this "bill" invalid and will provide all such proof to the various government agencies that I felt needed to be notified as well as the courts where we will sue for harassment should they try to collect or bill us again.

After I hung up the phone, I wrote and mailed a certified return requested letter to Alyon restating the above. I am now on a mission to put these (censored) out of business. Behind bars if at all possible.

So far I have contacted the Attorney General of GA, filed this report, contacted my previous phone company to have them send me a letter just as an extra measure and started a log of all my expenses incurred to correct this.

Next, I will be filing reports with the Attorney General of New Jersey, the FCC, FTC, FBI and anyone else I find through your postings. Oh and yes, making and adding to the itemized bill I intend to send to Alyon for my time and expenses incurred to fix this erroneous "bill" as I promised the "gentleman" on the phone at Alyon.

Thank You Ripoff Report and all who have posted here!!!
I will keep you updated.

Be Sure To Send A Letter To The Florida Attorney Generall

AUTHOR: Alton - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 06, 2003

Kathy, be sure to send a copy of any complaints about Alyon to The Florida Attorney General. They have a RICO case they are pursuing about this company. They are taking testimony and could use as much complainant information as possible.
