After much soliciation, our club signed up for the Cleveland Pet Expo to do an Agility demo.  Within days after signing up, We called to cancel and were told we could not cancel.  

Our club closed and we could no longer be a part a prt of the Expo and we emailed the company to ask if we could do a name change so we could sell our spot.  See the email below:

Our club paid and signed up for the Cleveland pet Expo.  Sadly our club is no longer afloat but is working with a Disc club.  We would like to change the name of our spot and change what we are doing from agility to disc.

They NEVER ANSWERED that email.
 

Please read the email exchange below and you will see the facts.  They lied and refused to give us our refund, but admitted they knew our club was closed.  They also took us off their website as an exhibator months before.

I am starting to put together the stage schedule for the Cleveland Pet Expo on September 7th and I wanted to get in contact with you to see what kind of schedule you had in mind for our event.

 

We usually have agility demos every hour on the hour throughout the day. The times are 10:10am, 11:00AM, 12:00PM,1:00PM, 2:00PM, 3:00PM and 4:00PM.

 

If you didn’t want to do demos all day please let me know and I will find other demos to fill the time slots. I also wanted to see if you would be bringing your own mats for the flooring?

I am REALLY sick of people not answering emails from your organization.  For almost a year I have been telling you we are now closed and can't make the event.  I have emailed if it was okay to sell our spot, NO ANSWER.  Informed you we will not be there..NO ANSWER.  Requested a refund..NO ANSWER.  Please reply.

Hi Marie,

 

I’m sorry that you have not heard back from anyone from our company, when you emailed me I forwarded it on to Event Coordinator and our Office Manager, who should have contacted you so I do apologize for you not getting a response from anyone.

 

After speaking with our Office Manager about this situation, we have no record of Ohio Air Dogs trying to contact us about a refund. We do not give refunds if it is 181 days out from the event. A few months ago, we had received an email from an attendee, telling us that they were pretty sure Ohio Air Dogs was out of business, but we still had them advertised on our website. We tried to reach out to the Ohio Air Dogs several times after this and we did not hear anything back. Until we hear from the business itself, we assume that you will still be attending the event.

 

Because we received first word that you will not be attending the event on July 10th , which was less than 181 days out from the event, you will not be able to receive a refund. You do have a couple other options, you can transfer the money into an a quarter page ad in the program, you can donate the booth to a nonprofit as a tax write off or you can sell the booth yourself. If you sell the booth yourself, we will need for you to give us the business name, contact name, phone number, and email address. You will have to send us this information, personally.

No One reached out to Ohio Air dogs.  I have every email (most wanting us to sign up for a website) from Amazing Pet Expo.  Some were emails telling us who else joined the expo. but not one email reaching out to us.  As you saw back on April 7th I emailed your company and no one replied.  
 
This just isn't right.  I would like my refund since I DID reach out to your company saying that we were closed and asked if we could do disc instead of agility.  This was never answered.  Now it is too late to do anything.  
 
Please refund my money ASAP.

Also check your notes because I personally phoned to cancel right after we signed up and was told we couldn't.  
 
It is now too late to sell our spot or do anything with it because your company did not respond to emails I sent telling you we were closed.  
 
I just spoke to an attorney and if refund is not received within 10 days I will take this court, call the BBB and post on the rip off report.  it isamazing that your company can 'reach out' to me with many emails to sell me something but not to cancel.  
 
My company is closed and I have been through hell the past year because companies like yours owe me money.

Please help me understand this. When you emailed initially, it looks like you asked for a name change, not a cancellation.

I stated our company was closed and requested a name change because at that time, April 7th i could have worked with another club. As you know I never received a reply. It is now too late to do that. 
 
Check your notes.  Within a week of you billing me I phoned and was told I could not cancel.  
 
Your company lacked in communication.  I tried.  Never an answer.

The situation on our end, and believe me, I am not passing any judgement, is that we were sent a few emails from people that went on and on about how your company was in trouble legally, and there were all these things happening with the courts and several things of that nature. We at that point made several, several efforts to reach you and email you. I am not saying I believe any of what they wrote, but this is why the situation stands out to Shanna and I, because we were the ones reaching out to you.

I do not delete any emails.  I have pages from your company for websites, letting me know who else is going to be an exhibitor at the Cleveland Pet Expo.  No emails from your company went to spam.  I have searched every single email received and NONE ever were received from you and just July 10th the first email from Shanna came.  If there was ever an email sent to me please provide it.  Per my email searches no email 'reaching out' to discuss the status of our company was ever received.  If one exists as you say, please provide. You company had nor problem with this email in sending out hundreds of promotions.   
 
I did contact your company requesting a replacement for our show and advised your company Ohio Air Dogs was now closed.  No reply was ever given.  
 
In addition, if you look at your notes, I tried to cancel a week after I paid.  I was told we COULD NOT cancel.   Per the agreement, you had no right to take us off exhibitors until you verified with us we were closed.  I paid in full.  
 
I have spoken to my attorney today.  Please send payment ASAP for my refund.

I do not understand this. PLEASE show me some instance where you cancelled. This show is in three weeks, and we do not give refunds this close to the event. Going out of business is not grounds for a refund either. If it were, no one would go out of business.

You admitted to  taking us out of the program without reaching out to me.  If you did where is the email I requested you to forward?  There isn't one.  
 
I contacted your company back in April to say we were closed and how to transfer our spot and proved that.  Your company did not reply.  
 
We trued to cancel within a week after purchasing but were told we couldn't.  
 
I'm not missing anything.  You are.  
 
I am contacting our local news investigative reporters.   You cannot keep my money when you took us out of the program months ago and refused to answer emails to sell my spot.  That IS well documented.

I'm done with this.  I contacted your company to ask ask about transferring our spot, that we could have sold for $300 April 7th, but no one replied.  It is too late to do that now.  A week after purchasing the spot I phoned your company to cancel and told I could not.  Our secretary was on the call as well.  We called 3 way.  There is a witness. Again, we were told we could NOT cancel.  I'm sure you have that in your notes.  
 
You say, 'you reached out to me' to find out if we were closed but yet cannot produce an email.  I have searched my emails thoroughly and have hundreds from your expo, but none asking our status.  
 
I am requesting a refund of $300, what we could have sold our spot for and I requested a name change back in April.  This is more then fair.  I am loosing $125 and getting nothing.  
 
If money is not received by Monday August 19th we will file a lawsuit against your company and contact Cleveland media investigative reporters with only the facts of exactly what transpired and post the facts that are documented on the rip off report and scammers report.  
 
Again send refund

Ohio Air Dogs and Marie Goodwin is a known scam artist, convicted scam artist and has tried to extort us repeately.

Also uses name Ann Rossman and Marie Kostos

We cannot really 'rebut' the information above becuase you can read it and see that she never cancelled, but simply wants money becuase she got out of jail and is out of business. If everyone that went out of business got a refund, no one would ever need to be out of business.

That said, simply Google "Marie Goodwin Ohio" or "Marie Goodwin Ohio Air Dogs" or even look up "Ohio Air Dogs" on this Ripoff Report site.

That is all anyone really would need to see I think.
