Amazon DOES NOT honor their ADVERTISED prices! Bait and Switch ripoff Seattle Nationwide

On May 22 Amazon.com advertised a huge toy clearance at their toy outlet. Myself and many other people orderd large amounts of toys for upcoming birthdays, christmas, and schools. They also advertised that if you ordered over $25 you would get free shipping. This sale went on all day and even included items tht had been discounted for weeks.

The next day I went to check the status of my order and noticed one of the larger trucks that I ordered missing from my order. I called Amazon up and asked why? Then I was told the truck was a price error and they could not honor the price. Although I was offered a $5 discount on my next order for "retribution", but alas this never materialized either.

During this phone call I was also "assured" that the rest of my order would be shipped. A few hours later I go back to check the status of my order again and 4 more trucks are missing from my more than 40 item order. I call and email again. In which I get this email back from them:


"Greetings from Amazon.com.

We sincerely apologize for the error that resulted in an incorrect price being displayed for the following items from these orders.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of items on our site may be mispriced. We do, however, verify prices as part of our shipping procedures.

If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and ship you the item. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either
contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

In accordance with our posted policies on pricing, we are unable to offer this item for the incorrectly posted price.

From this I take that they are going to stop removing things from my order and ship the rest of my order since they "assured" me that the "remainder of my order" would be shipped. But no they have continued removing items and canceling my orders and still have not shipped anything. Like the other complaint posted about this so called "toy sale" (ripoff) they have proved preferential treatment to prime members and those that paid for expedited shipping. Not only that but now I am being charged shipping for what is left in my order.

I say it is a Bait and Switch because when I called back I was told "no you can not have the advertised prices but you can pay 4-5 times higher price if you want the product". Others are being told that if the product has shipped they will either have to return it or pay the higher price.

I guess Amazons prices are like the lottery on whether you "win" them or not.
I have filed a BBB complaint.

This is sad.

I really can't believe that Amazon would do this, however, to be honest, as consumers there is very little we can do. There online pricing policy does state that the price can be off, and the actions they took were in accordance with their rules. It sad...but nothing can be done.

Kristin, I have not been able to shop Amazon as I have in the past, but sure hope to do so again in the future!!! I LOVE Amazon, and never had issues like this, and for that reason, I hope you raise holy heck about this WITH AMAZON.

I realize you may not have the time or inclination to do so, but this really sucks! I understand about pricing ERRORS, but man, this is a lot of the order, and if this is a REGULAR issue for Amazon, as indicated by their email, they should check prices when the order IS PROCESSED, NOT SHIPPED.

This is just plain wrong, and I am not the only Amazon fan in my family, so I will be letting them know of this and if it becomes standard practice, Amazon may regret disrespecting their customers like this. It's a pretty weird coincidence there are THIS MANY pricing errors on popular SALE items, by such a merchandising giant as Amazon.

Good Luck, I really hope you get satisfaction.
