I recently ordered a book I needed in 3 days for a class, from Amazon.com. I paid for standard shipping (2-3 business days) expecting to recieve it in that amount of time. I waited 3 business days and call to track my order.

I was informed that they would recieve the book in 7-10 business days and then I would recieve it within 2-3 days after they got it (for me 14 days total later). Had I known this I would have made other arrangements. I protested; the rep. admitted it is not stated on webpage, with his worthless apology. I did not cancell, I needed the book.

I will no longer do business with Amazon.com again, even if it cost more to do business somewhere else. I trusted this company. I feel lied to and tricked.

It's not that you're not going to get your product; it's how the business gets the product to you. As a student you're screwed. I will be without my book for the first 3wks of class.

Please, learn you lesson from me. I hate companies like this. Good luck!

I have been ordering from Amazon.com for several years. At the checkout page, it gives you a very detailed shipping overview. Depending on your choice of shipping, you get a timeline of when it will leave the warehouse and the expected delivery time for the shipping option.

I almost always choose the free shipping option. I know that option gives me a 7-10 day delivery time. If the item you ordered was that important, you should have had it overnighted. Amazon.com has never let me down with their delivery estimates. When I have used their 2 day option, they've delivered as promised.

I am a very happy Amazon.com customer because they save me tons of money and because I choose the appropriate shipping option for the products I order.

I do business with this company freely and without any fear of getting ripped off. I can order something on a Monday and if it shows it's "In Stock" I can look for it by Thursday -- and that's using Standard Shipping. Furthermore it is false to claim they set out to deceive. On the contrary, this complaint in itself is deceiving, while Amazon is up-front about their policies. This individual says he opted for standard shipping (2-3 days). Amazon has no standard shipping that it clains is that fast. As another person pointed out, that is time it takes to ship that particular item. I quote from Amazon's shipping guidelines:

"We calculate delivery estimates by taking the estimated shipping date and adding the time it takes a package to travel from our facilities to your destination address, based on the shipping speed you've chosen.

"For example, if you order an item that is listed as "Usually ships in 2-3 days" and select standard U.S. shipping (which typically takes 3-5 business days), you can use the chart above to determine that your order should arrive 5-8 business days after you place it."

But here we have somebody who waited until the very last minute to order a book that was going to be needed very soon and wanted to do it on the cheap besides, then frantically read something about 2-3 days and glommed onto it, and now he blames the company for not coming through. Why wait so long to get ready for school in the first place? Obviously, money is tight here and budgeting for school got the hind teat. But why? Is it really scarce, or did it get blown on partying, frivolous things, wild spending, etc? Only the OP can answer that, but this smells like a bogus complaint to me -- all the way around.

Irresponsibility on parade. LOL

Also note above: "USUALLY" ships in.... Hardly any sort of guarantee for someone who needed something in a hurry. Hardly something to bank on to bail someone out of his own negligence.

Obviously you did not read the shipping details ...

With standard shipping, the products LEAVES THE WAREHOUSE within 2-3 days; it does not arrive at your doorstep in 2-3 days.

If you absolutely needed the product immediately, you should have invested in the extra cost to have the item express-shipped. Or, simply purchased the item at your campus bookstore instead.

PS - To the moron who stated "your retarded" -- be aware of the correct spelling of "you're" before you call others names.

This is why most schools tell you to go through their library. Yes, it's more expensive but you get it fast with no problems. I pay extra for the piece of mind. Your problem is the risk you take when going through third party vendors.
