Got a letter saying I owed $65000 for a credit card. I am 25 years old and have never had a credit card with that much credit. I called them and they couldn't give me the name of company that just it was a Visa and that I made the last payment on November of 2006.

I went through my old bank receipts from 2005 to recent and I have no record of every making a visa payment. I am thinking this isn't even my account.

Next I get a letter saying they are contacting a Sheriff for a Sheriff sale on my property. I didn't want that to happen so I called and they said they would settle for $2000. That is a big difference. They wanted $1000 now and then payments every month for the next year. I don't have the money to make these payments and I borrow the $1000 not knowing how I will ever pay it back.

I am contacting a lawyer now to get my $1000 back and stop the payments.

I too have not heard of a $65,000 balance on ANY credit card. Me thinks you are being ripped off. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MORE MONEY. Make them prove their existance by demanding validation of this alleged debt. Then sue them.

Here is how and you don't need an attorney!

Go to budhibbs.com AND (((redacted)))

These two sites will provide you with more than enough ammo to get these vultures to go away or give you lots of money if they don't!

Myself and others have used these two websites to successfully go after these predators and put some money in our pockets at the same time!

Good luck!!

Your not the only one

Donora,

Your are not alone in this matter with this company what they do is called skiptracing & what that is they locate anyone with a similar name & make them beleive they owe this money when in reality they do not your not even the person they are looking for. They get a certain amount from the company in which they are purchasing this debt from then they add on attorney fee's, interest, and an enormous amount of collection fee's which are passed on to the collector trying to collect this from you.
They threaten to take your home if you don't pay, their collectors are rude and harsh, they don't care that you struggling to survive they just want to put money in their pocket.
If you did not create this debt then DO NOT PAY get your attorney involved. Nine times out of ten ACC does not follow the FDCPA which they are required to by law and some of what debt they purchase is out of statue.
They have to give you the information you are requesting such as the orginial creditor's name, which they have on file, they have this information they just know you are not the person who owes the debt.
Contact your attorney asap I can't stress this enough they need to be put in their place. More people who are receiving threatening phone calls and letters from this company need to come together and stop the harassing collection practices that this company provides and welcomes. The more heartless they are the better.

IF THIS IS NOT YOUR DEBT & YOU ARE CERTAIN IT IS NOT WHY PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
