This is an abridged report. I have been a customer of AHS for over 9 years and they are the only Company that has worked on my AC units. I have had over 18 reported repairs on my AC units over the course of the policy. The poor workmanship over that period came to a head with 2 leaking coils, both installed by AHS and other assorted problems. I reported the problem on 8/16/2006 and as of this moment 9/18/2006 -5 weeks later they have not finished repairing my unit.

Unlike some other complaints they did not turn down my repair becasue they are the ones that did all of the work. Instead they made me wait weeks om 100 degree weather before beginning the work. They sent one contractor who came in like the Lone Ranger telling me all of the mistakes the prior AHS Contractors had performed and then turned into Darth Vedor? as he continued to miss appointments, not return calls, and disregard the needs of my family.

AHS put me through the torture of delaling wiht multiple deparments and multiple individuals, some acted like they cared some did not. When I asked for a different contractor because of the one being non responsive and lying they would not change the contractor. Then after 4 weeks of sweating, not being able to sleep, writing endless emails and making endless requests, contacting the Memphis BBB, they finally showed up. The contractor had been late 3 times and missed 3 other appointments. He blamed me but lucky for me I had proof and documentation of calls made as well as not made by the contractor.

The company that represented AHS stated that the past work of previous AHS contractors was inadequate and improper. They did not replace the entire coil units, leaving old coil containers, old driers, unbalanced units, missing parts, and left debris from past work in the attic.

Problems with AHS

AUTHOR: Michelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 09, 2006

I would suggest you ask for customer relations dept (they are somewhat of a supv dept---they deal with escalated problems), unless you have a contract that went through service one (as Service one has their own dept that does everything). If you can't get to the customer relations dept & don't have a service one contract ask whomever you get if they or their supv can put your HVAC (a/c) service call in research due to delay & possible improper previous repairs by AHS provided co. Most of the time researches are handle by the cust relations dept (who may take 24 hrs to call u back) & that way you can deal with 1 person until your problem is resolved & not have to explain your problem over & over.

There have been situations where a 10 seer unit would have been ok & up to code when it was originally installed..... but since then the code enforcement dept in your city may have changed the codes to require a 13 seer. If this is the case & you had a 10 seer prior to AHS repairs then what AHS would do is either mail you a check for what they pay for 10 seer unit + labor to install & then you can call your own co to install 13 seer & pay them. Or if you get an AHS co then AHS will pay that co the total it would normally pay & you pay that co the difference. Please brace yourself as the cost AHS pays is extremely less then what you'll have to pay. And if your provious unit is old then there will possibly be several upgrades needed to meet code which is also not covered by AHS contract.

The reason they don't cover to go back with a 13 seer in this case is that per your contract they match what you have already & if you need something better to meet code then it is not covered per the limitations of liability section of your contract---which specifies upgrades & code violations n/c.

AHS Breaks Law by not installing 13 SEER Unit

AUTHOR: Ronnie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 01, 2006

Because of my lack of trust of the AHS vendor after waiting 5 weeks to have my coils replaced, I found out that although i was promised 13 SEER coils by both the Vendor and AHS they installed 10-12 SEER coils that did not meet the Federal standards. How many other consumers have been misled by this Company?

Cancel the contract

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

Home warranties are a bad investment because you end up with a third party deciding what repairs your home needs, who will perform the work, and when the work will be done.

The premiums you paid for nine years got you nothing but grief. The same money would have paid for a good quality repair to your air conditioner a long time ago. My advice to anyone with a home warranty is to cancel it.
