I bought a Honda Big Ruckus New on 8/21/05 from Town & Country Honda, in Chandler AZ.

One of the reasons I choose this scooter over others was the fact that I live on, & around dirt roads. In looking over the Big Ruckus specifications at http://powersports.honda.com/scooters/model.asp?ModelName=Big%20Ruckus&ModelYear=2005&ModelId=PS2505 it lists "Rear Suspension Single-side swingarm with dual hydraulic shocks with seven-position spring-preload adjustability; 4.7-inch travel".

I never had any reason to question these specifications so I never even thought to check & make sure the parts listed where the parts stated. After riding it for a month, I went to adjust the shocks; because I was taking a rider on my bike & thought maybe a little stiffer would be a good idea. Imagine my surprise when I found only one non-adjustable shock!

After finding that I had not got what I had paid for I told the dealer (I already had an appointment, in a week, for a unrelated problem with the bike so I waited till then). After being made aware of the problem, the dealer informed me that I would have to take it up with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. - Motorcycle Division. Having already been in contact with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. - Motorcycle Division at (866)784-1870, for a different scooter from another dealer for over a month, I said ok & left the bike to have the shocks fixed.

Today I called up Honda at the number above. I was told by the customer service rep there, that 'they (Honda) were not responsible for mistakes on their website (there is a disclaimer to this effect, on some other page of the website I was told, but if so I have been unable to find it), so I should have checked for myself rather the shocks where indeed dual-shocks'! I was told that nothing could be done to give me my dual shocks, & then thanked for 'bringing the MISTAKE to their attention'.

This is nothing short of outright fraud, In my opinion! I was promised dual adjustable shocks & received a single non-adjustable shock instead! Not only I, but every Big Ruckus owner in the USA has been Ripped-Off!

BIG RUCKUS(PS250) - Suspension Mistake

AUTHOR: Hans - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 28, 2005

I have owned a Honda Big Ruckus(PS250) for over 6 months now. The site has posted the wrong specs for the suspension since day 1.

Terms and Conditions for the site cover these "Oops" so, in the end they can just point to some hermit web designer and Blame them. The comment about scooters not having adjustable shocks is false.

The real issue at hand is the fact that this scooter:(BIG RUCKUS(PS250) suffers from
a bad rear suspension problem. The shock itself
is an odd size, as to de-rail hopes to improve/
upgrade the suspension without great expense to the consumer.

This problem was brought to the attention of the appropriate party's at Honda, and concluded with an offer to buy the scooter back.

Honda at this time has no plans to recall this scooter, options for upgrading the suspension
start at $400 to the consumer.

This type of behavior only manifests iteself whith one purpose: Niche-aftermarket racketeering.

1.) There is no mention of tech specs for this
shock (Part# 52400-KTB-003)in:

A) the shop manual

or

B) scooter manual

To address even a comparison of alternate suspension options, this information is required.
Honda Service shops are left with no options but to turn away consumers, regarding them as "Special needs" consumers who they do
not want to cater or appeal to.

This scooter is unsafe in it's current condition, and sadly will only change when the fatality rate requires them to.

Not A Lawyer, but worked with many

"As to your comments Denny, you obviously are not a lawyer or you would know that, hiding a page with a disclaimer on your website under the title of 'terms of use' means nothing! Furthermore, unless you know WTF your talking about it's best to keep your mouth shut!"

I DO Know what i am talking about. As a visitor to over a million websites as WELL as developing, designing and maintaining several websites, you should always READ the Terms of USE/SERvice an PRIVACY policy as posted on EVERY website you go to.

Ignorance is no defense, and you WERE ignorant. ITs not honda's fault you didn't bother to READ their Terms of Service, where it clearly explains their policies and everything that has to do with their website.

Terms of use, defINES EVERYTHING that you AS A VISITOR to their website can or can't do with material as presented there. For instance, if you downloaded and image from their site and SOLD It as a download from your site or another site, YOU ARE GUILTY of violating their copyrights AS LAID OUT in their Terms of USe/Service .

American Honda Motor Motorcycle Division, lies about not knowing of this deception before!

AUTHOR: Ralph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 27, 2005

I talked to American Honda Motor Motorcycle Division today for hours! They state that this is the first time that this 'honest mistake' has been brought to their attention. This is untrue, I have met another Big Ruckus owner today who had the same problem months ago with AHMMD, & they offered to buy back his bike! I'm hoping to get him to come here & post soon.

As to your comments Denny, you obviously are not a lawyer or you would know that, hiding a page with a disclaimer on your website under the title of 'terms of use' means nothing! Furthermore, unless you know WTF your talking about it's best to keep your mouth shut!

There are many 'scooters' sold in the US with DUAL adjustable shocks, the Honda Reflex, (which happens to share the same drive-train & engine as this bike) has them, as do all of Hondas' other scooters over 50CCs, with the exception of the 80CC Elite, alot even come with ABS brakes! This is not one of those toy pieces of junk scooters you see from china & is certainly NO moped! This is a 250CC 'scooter'; considered to be a full size motorcycle as far as DMV is concerned, it does 75+mph, & cost me $8000.00 cash, out the door!

AUTHOR: Denny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 27, 2005

They are correct that the advertised specifications are as accurate as possible and makes promise or representation that the items listed are in fact "ALL CORRECT" ---- Under their Terms of Use (link at the bottom of the page):

"5. Although the specifications, features, illustrations, equipment and other information contained in the site are based upon up-to-date information, and while American Honda Motor Co., Inc. makes all reasonable efforts to ensure that all material on this site is correct, accuracy cannot be guaranteed and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. makes no warranties or representations as to its accuracy. This site, and all information and materials contained herein, is provided to you "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT."

However, Im unfamiliar with the model, but know that most mopeds/scooters dont come with adjustable shocks.
