July 31, 2012.  Phone solicitation while driving on freeway (am I bad, speaker phone).  Offered multiple magazines, said I don't need that many, and four years.  It was for my mom at 96, mild dementia, said probably don't need four years, got it down to two.  My scratch paper actually has a name, $49 and 200 on it, which was my understanding of 4 payments totalling $200.  At the time, and still now, I am in foreclosure.  Don't get my hair done, my nails, no extra expenses, not even Netflix.  At any rate, magazines start coming, very poor quality intially, like double print, seconds, whatever.  I check my online statement.  There is three $49.99 in less than a month's period of time from a Midwest.  Didn't recognize, so told the bank that did not know who this was, no phone number, no website attached to the bill.  So the Midwest people are calling.  Oh, you can't cancel, as in one of your previous reports, that it is a prepaid service and that I owe some atronomical settlement amount, like $1,087 or more and that they  have it recorded.  So play the recording for me.  Did not call back with the recording.  I am sure those can be dummied up as well, cut, spliced, whatever.  I know under the circumstances I would never agree to $49 a month, unless it was spread out and for a short time.  And when you have a contract in that amount, wouldn't it have to be in writing?  It would be ludicrous not to be able to cancel and received no more magazines.  There was so many magazines, they would stack up and not even be opened.  I gave them to the hospital.  Mom died, really?  I should have known better since a few years back I had done a charitable donation for a magazine, even had it sent directly to Children's Hospital....and they were sending muscle magazines, and other inappropriate magazines to a Children's hospital...really?  And it turned out not to be the $40 donation, ended up costing $827!!!!

So lesson learned with this one.  No phone sales, no online sales, get your magazines at the library, or it is cheaper to pay top dollar at the store!!!!  Now they have gone back to my  bank under the name Americas Elite Magazine, this is after I refused to pay them and told them to sue me.  I will be in bankruptcy sometime in June.  Really!!!!!!
