I hired Anne-Marie Hutchinson of Dawson Corwell Solicitors for a private children's case, involving my two children 7 months ago. During my involvement with the firm I consistently called to speak with Ms Hutchinson regarding my children's case and never had my phone calls returned by her or her staff. These queries which involved important legal information which I needed and advice which was desperately required to make decisions were next to impossible to obtain from anyone at the firm. I was paying over $600 per hour yet I was never able to reach Ms Hutchinson or any other member of staff at the firm, Dawson & Cornwell. I had important queries about attending my

son's birthday and had sent several texts asking if I could attend my son's birthday, I was ignored and received absolutely no response from anyone at the firm. I find this completely unacceptable and negligent. I ended up missing my child's birthday because my solicitor which was supposedly acting for me could not be bothered to even return my e-mails or my texts which pleaded for an answer. I e-mailed many times and sent numerous texts to Ms Hutchinson asking if I could attend my son's birthday on the 30th of September just past. I couldn't get a simple response regarding my attendance at my son's birthday with the current orders in place. I find this absolutely

appalling and highly unethical. I could have been advised so easily. My son just turned 9, I missed his birthday because the solicitor I had acting for me couldn't be bothered to give me a simple response. I am disgusted with the way I was treated. I was never given guidance, my phone calls and e-mails which were important went completely ignored. I do not know why Anne Marie Hutchinson even took my case. She clearly had no intention of working on it or assisting me legally. She did absolutely nothing to assist me. I also, recall her assistant, Ms Jayshree Patel asking if Anne-Marie was really taking my case. I found this comment highly unethical and incredibly rude not to mention

quite unprofessional. I do not understand why you feel at Dawson and Cornwell that it is acceptable to treat clients in this discourteous and impertinent manner. In addition, I think it was highly negligent of Ms Hutchinson to not have informed me of the decision of my case in the Court of Appeals. To this day I do not have a clear understanding of the options open to me for further litigation. After I received the Court of Appeals decision I did not receive any explanation from Ms Hutchinson and had to call the firm several times with no response. To this day I still do not have this information and do not know what possibilities are open to me. No phone calls were returned and no explanation

from any member of the staff was given. I received no phone calls from any employee at Dawson and Cornwell. I had absolutely no idea throughout my dealings with Anne-Marie Hutchinson about the options open to me until after several months of no information or communication from her I then realised it was a fruitless and completely pointless endeavour to continue with her and Dawson Cornwell. I received yet again no response from her about much of anything. I had asked several times about increasing visitation with my son and did not receive a single response. I was given absolutely no advice and no guidance about how to proceed for the entire time I supposedly

had Anne-Marie Hutchinson acting for me. Any knowledge I have now is due to my seeking advice from other solicitors and barristers. These are the lives of my children at stake. It is legal negligence to ignore and not inform a client about the options open to them and furthermore not to disclose and explain a court decision. Unfortunately behind the disguise of the gleaming reports and reviews on the internet regarding Anne-Marie Hutchinson I found nothing but rudeness, cruelty and utter dismissal of all of my concerns. I wasted hours and hours of my time trying to get things accomplished whist I was paying Anne-Marie Hutchinson. I'm not sure what I paid for exactly. I think

nothing really. I am now in a worse position legally and have lost considerable time, several months have now passed and my children are in distress. My situation has deteriorated since hiring Anne-Marie Hutchinson. In lieu of the above I will be filing a formal complaint with the Legal Obudsman informing them of Dawson and Cornwell regarding the unprofessional service and negligence I have received.. Dawson and Cornwell have failed to respond to my complaint within the 28 day period from my initial complaint. I will now be issuing a formal complaint with the Legal Obudsman and eventually with SRA.
