THE AOL COMPUTERS WHICH ARE FOR SALE AT ALL COMP USA STORES ARE ADVERTISED INCORRECTLY. THE STICKER STATES "$299.99 WITH A 12 MONTH AOL MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT AT $23.90 A MONTH. OPEN TO NEW AND CURRENT AOL MEMBERS IN THE U.S." THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. I AM A CURRENT AOL ACCOUNT MEMBER AND WAS TOLD I COULD NOT ADD A COMMITMENT TO MY EXISTING ACCOUNT. FINALLY AN AOL REP TOLD ME "JUST CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT SO YOU CAN TAKE THE COMPUTER HOME THEN CALL AND TELL AOL THAT YOU WANT TO MOVE THE 12 MONTH COMMITMENT TO YOUR OLD ACCOUNT AND DELETE THE NEW ACCOUNT" I SPECIFICALLY ASKED "WILL THEY TELL ME TO POUND SAND?" AND SHE SAID "NO, IF THEY DO, SEND ME AN EMAIL". WELL GUESS WHAT. IT CAN'T BE DONE. TIM IN CANCELLATION TOLD ME "OH YOU HAD TO HAVE BOUGHT THE $399 COMPUTER". LIAR. BILLING THEN TOLD ME THE SAME ANSWER I HAD BEEN TOLD BEFORE..THAT I COULDN'T ADD A 12 MONTH COMMITMENT TO MY EXISTING ACCOUNT. THE STICKER WORDING SHOULD HAVE STATED "OPEN TO NEW AOL MEMBERS" OBVIOUSLY. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE BBB AS WELL AS COMP USA. I'M STILL SENDING NOTES TO AOL. NOBODY NEEDS TWO AOL MEMBERSHIPS. $67.80 FOR AOL MEMBERSHIPS A MONTH IS RIDICULOUS.

Problem resolved Anyone who buys one of these and encounters this problem

AUTHOR: Eva - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 25, 2005

It took almost a month and a complaint filed with the better business bureau but the matter has been resolved. An AOL corportate legal dept rep is going to correct this problem as well as make everyone re-read the script for these aol pc's that are being sold and how to handle changing the price index on existing aol accounts.

Anyone who buys one of these and encounters this problem should ask for the "supervisor on the floor level" who can handle this in case the person at aol giving out the bad information has not read the script.
