I received a call from the Auto Processing Center offering an extended warrenty for our car.  The sales person said that I would be sent the complete contract and if I was not satisfied I could call within 30 days and receive a full refund.  I was given a number that I was told was his main line and I could get a hold of him easily.

I received the contract and decided it wasn't for me.  And called to cancel within the 30 days and found that the number was a general number and that I had to find another number because I couldn't get through to anyone.  I found another number in my contract and was able to talk to a customer service representative and was told I needed to cancel in writing per my contract.  I was asked several times if I had read my contract, which I had.  I had read they needed the cancelation in writing and was confused because the sales person said that I could call and cancel.  I asked the customer service person what they needed for me to cancel.  I was given quite a hassel and she tried to pursauade me from canceling.  I had to stop her several times and say that I just wanted to cancel.  She finally said that I had to submitt a form and that the form was in my contract.  I couldn't find it.  The sales rep finally admitted that the form was not in the contract but I still needed to submit my request in writting. She told me that she would mail me the form as a complimentary service. She said she put a hold on my account and as soon as I returned the paper work everything would be canceled and I would get a full refund.  I never received the paperwork.

When I called to follow up with the missing paper work, I was informed by customer service management that now I was out of my 30 day cancelation window and would only receive a pro-rated refund and have to pay a cancelation penalty.  The customer service  manager said that all I needed to do was submit a letter saying I wanted to cancel but now that I was out of the 30 day window I would have to submit a letter as well as the milage of the car and the letter had to be notarized.  I told him that this is not what I had been told by previous employees and that I was trying to follow their directions and I don't think that it was right that I was going to be penalized.  He just said that it is all spelled out in the contract....needless to say it is not!  And well, I did loose my temper.  I'm not a swearing person and did not use language that would be offenive, but the manager felt the need to tell me to calm down so that we could handle this professionally.  And then he told me that he was a Christian and had a good relationship with his church and that meant he was trying not to cheat me.  I am also a Christian and have a good relationship with my chruch, but the idea that this was a valid arguement for me to allow this company to rob me after lying to me was extreemly offensive.

Needless to say, if anyone is thinking of using this company, Do Not Do It!!!  They are a scam.  I can only imagine that if you used them that they would be terrible if you actually tried to use your policy.
