They offer a set term (i.e. 3 months, 2 years, lifetime) warranty on their parts. Some time goes by (my case it's 15 months) and I goto warranty my brake rotors and they cannot find the purchase information under my phone number. They use receipts that, I think, are designed to fade away in a few months, so even saving the receipts won't help you down the road.

Ironically, if the clerk knows how, and most don't, to look you up by name & zip code they find it.

I think it's a dirty business practice!!!

Let me clear a few things up.
1. Almost all retailers, including AutoZone use thermal reciept paper. It saves a huge amount of money in ink/toner. The reciepts DO fade after a few months.
2. Brake rotors carry 1 of 3 warranty lengths.
1 year=(Valuecraft)
2 year=(Duralast)
3 year=(Duralast Gold)
You did not specify which type of rotors you purchased, so I can not help there.
3. Here are some reasons the Autozoner may not have been able to find your warranty file. Misspelt name. We're human, we make mistakes. Always double check the screen when the warranty info is typed in. Mis-typed phone number is another issue. The Autozone warranty system keeps ALL info on file in databases forever. Note that expired warranties are not visable to the front counter terminals by anyone except a manager. The manager must bring up a "manager screen" to be able to see all records in a customers file.
4. If you have a problem, please ask for the manger on duty or ask when the store manager will be in. Pissing off a customer does no one anygood! It is not the Autozone way.
