Avis exorbitant charges Phoenix Arizona

Extra charges of USD162.01 was debited from our registered credit card on 2Apr2016 on top of our fully paid rental services of USD504.62, with USD34.67 overpaid yet to be refunded.

We understand that there will be charges or penalty for not returning with full tank of gas but such should not be as high as USD162.

After we sent enquiry for checking, we were told that we have been billed in the amount of $143.64 plus tax for fuel. This is at the rate of $9.98 per gallon. 

We file the report because of two reasons. First, while the market price is only $2 per gallon, the extra charge is obviously exorbitant and not comparable to other market players. Second, although Avis claims that the charges are stated in the terms and conditions, we were not explained about the details during our rental service at counter with this important information. That means, customer will easily overlook and fall into this trap.
