This Victoria, B.C. used car company's representative denied knowledge of the fact that a car for sale on its lot had been written off as a total wreck. The car was sold at market value without consideration for the fact that it had been previously wrecked and salvaged from the wrecking yard. If buying a used car, ALWAYS spend the CDN $15 to do an ICBC VIN search.

AUTHOR: David Bignell - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 19, 2004
To the car buing public,

On May 17/2004 it was brought to my attention(for the very first time) by a customer that our name was displayed on the web site Rip-Off Report.com.
Never during this period since Sept.16/2000 have we ever been contacted by Rip-Off Report.com to defend our good name.

Let it be stated unequivocally for the record that we do an ICBC accident declaration on every single car that we sell and that full disclosure of such is given to all clients.

All our files show a 100% consistent record of proper government accident reports corresponding exactly and matching disclosure on our customers bill of sale.
It has been our policy since day one to not purchase Rebuilt vehicles.

The odd one we take on trade(this would represent less than 1% of all trades)is sold to other dealers or through a dealer auction.

We have sold thousands of cars over the last 15 years and their would be less than 20 rebuilts sold to the public all of which would have been declared as such.

It is noteworthy to understate how a vehicle receives Rebuilt status in the Province of British Columbia.

When the person is paid out and the vehicle is declared written off ICBC physically stores the vehicle in a compound. They determine which vehicles are fit to be resold and crush the rest.
In order for any of these remaining to be registered for service again they must pass a rigorous inspection at a BC Government Inspection Center. The registration is frozen until this is done.

Following a passing inspection the vehicle can be re-requested but the word Rebuilt appears printed on the registration and remains in the government computer forever.

Ironically during the period of Sept.16/2000 my wife who is my business partner was serving on a British Colombia Dealer Arbitration Board where consumers could vent such complaints free of charge.

We were proud to be chosen to be on this board due to our good reputation.

The government dealer inspector for Victoria Mr. Barry Marsh who played part in choosing us called us "as honest a used car dealer he has ever dealt with."

I take great pride in my name and reputation and having a vague, faceless statement splash my name across the world seems grossly unfair. However I would ask my accuser to come forward and discuss the facts in an open forum.

We are a small family business that have prospered for the last 15 years on an impecable reputation.
In conclusion in the interest of good faith I am seeking the truth here. All facts I have stated are heartfelt, accurate and true.
