I've been unemployed for about 1 year and since we recently moved to Texas I've been doing the usual job search route. I saw a cryptic ad for Bernard Haldane Assocoates in the paper and went to their website and filled out the profile.

When I went to the interview I got the feeling I was sitting with a used car salesman. Quick talker (in need of elocution lessons), well dressed. He told me very little substantial information and some misleading about my industry *red flag*(technical writing) and that I could make a far greater salary than I had been up until this point *red flag*. He also told me BHA only selects 10 new clients a week *red flag.*

He declined to talk figures *red flag* and when I told him I wanted a deal where the hiring firm pays the fees he said no way - it didn't work that way - that I had to pay the fee. This contradicted what the appointment taker said on the phone "the vp decides who pays the fees, you or the client." He said I could make the - unnamed amount - fee money up by bonuses at my future job, salary increases, etc.

Anyhow, I filled out their basic employment satisfaction sheet, a short personal profile sheet (which phrases describes me most and least) and took some "homework" for me and my husband (with questions asking him how supportive of my search he was - giving them an indication of whether or not they'd choose me - could I pay?).

I knew some huge sales pitch was to come at the next meeting so I cancelled. Fortunately my mom found this site and the free state of Texas Workforce Commission website.

I left the form there and had to go behind the counter to validate my parking tix (everyone had vacated the lobby office). OH YEAH - and top it all off the guy was 15 minutes late for our appointment.

What do they do with the SSN?

D -

Whata does BHA do with the SSN they ask you for? Like a dope I gave it. Do they run a credit report or something to determine if you can pay?

FYI - Since I cancelled today's meeting there hasn't been any followup from BHA, Mike Doyle. Thanks
