PLEASE HELP US!!

We are two families from Boise Idaho who sent $1000 dollar deposits each to Bert Moeller for the New Zealand Rugby tour. Both our boys were very excited to go, so we made sure that the money was sent and received prior to the June 1 deadline.

After the money was received and the checks were cashed by Bert we heard nothing from him. We did not receive a confirmation letter, a forms booklet or insurance information as per the Rugby Tour 07 application and agreement. We also needed to talk to Bert to setup our boys flights to L.A. and find a place for them to stay for early practices.

I called Bert several times for three weeks and left messages on his voice mail, Bert would not return my calls. By the end of June and only after talking to Berts mother, here in Boise, did he finally return my calls. Needless to say, after not hearing from Bert and reading the Rip-Off report online, our families lost all confidence in Berts ability to run the tour. We decided to withdraw from the tour.

Now it is July 19th and presumably the tour has left for New Zealand. Bert promised me on two different occasions that he would send us our deposit back right away. We cancelled early enough so that no costs were incurred ( i.e. airline ticket were not purchased). The last time I talked to Bert, he said he would send both families $750 immediately less $250 for uniforms that he had to purchase early on. He said he would send us the $250 later if he could find boys to fill the slots or send us the uniforms.

I was happy with that as long as we would receive the $750 before he left on the tour, Bert agreed. After waiting more than a week, no money was received and no word from Bert. I again called Bert several times and he would not answer his phone or return my calls! Now he is gone to New Zealand and we are afraid we will never see our $1000 again.

If you have a son on the tour or if you know Bert, please talk to him and ask him to send us our deposits back! We are afraid that if no one knows about the the two families in Idaho who sent $2000 in deposits, that Bert will continue to ignore us! We want to believe that Bert is a good man and will do the right and honorable thing, to this date he has not.

I hope that the previous ripoff report about Bert is not true and he will send us our money back!!!! I will be glad to write a positive response to this report if he does.

Both of our sons are very dissapointed that they are not going on the New Zealand trip, but they are more dissapointed that a rugby coach could act this way.

Please, by all means, contact the SCRFU (emails listed above), and then call the police. If you are not happy, I suggest that you do it. I will be glad to stand up to any body and explain my positions and actions face to face.

FYI- I was the only residence of Brea who went on the tour so the "father" writing for his "son" is just a hater and knows nothing of the trip or what happened on it. But the members of the Papatoetoe rugby club (in NZ) where nice enough to loan us players to replace the very last minute cancellations that threatened to stop the trip. All in all, the budget and itinerary would have been much better had families like the two Boise families not cancelled, but they did and that is unfortunate.

I will say that, according to the terms of the trip form that they filled out, I was within my rights to NOT refund them anything, but in the end, I sent them all I could (minus the team tour kit and ticket money from the Allblacks test match).

I challenge any of you hate mongers to pull a trip like this off, you are too scared to even dream of it. I have personally talked with almost every parent from the trip and they ALL say that they believe the trip to be a success. I guess that they could be lying, but it seems that if they had grievances, they would have let me know.

Again, call the police, and email Vath or Gainey, please, or just shut up.

I am so sorry to hear that you are also a victim of Bert Moeller. We are also victims in another matter. In order to help protect others, please contact Southern California Rugby Football Union (SCRFU) and explain the details of your problem(s). They are more than willing to hear your situation and would actually LIKE to hear about it.

Bert Moellers Tour to New Zeeland

My son went on this tour to New Zeeland. It was disorganised and a complete waste of our money. Only 11 players went on the tour so Bert had to beg teams to lend him players. He also got into arguments where ever he went with local officials.

I am sorry to hear that you have lost money with this tour. This would explain why Bert had enough money to hand gear out to all the local players.

Also I have his contact details if anyone is trying to track him down.

As you would have guessed for the protection of my son I am using a pseudoynm.

Get the police envolved

At this time you need to get the police involved. This is a blatent crime and this dirt bag needs to go to jail. The number for Brea Police Department is 714-990-7600. You might want to go to the ic3.gov website and file an internet fraud charge if this was solicited via the internet. Contact USA Rugby and find out if he has any affiliations to clubs or where his is based at. Let them know of your situation as well.

If you don't file charges and anyone else that gets burned by this guy then nothing will happen. I am inclined to believe the other Ripoff Report about this guy. Don't let up until you get your money or get this guy in jail. Your entitled and it's your right to not be the victim.

No Calls, No Emails, No response from Bert Moeller

The question was asked if I had gotten the rest of my deposit back from Bert Moeller. The answer is no!! The rugby trip to New Zealand is now over and I have not heard a word from him. I check my mail every day in hopes that I'll find a check from Bert but find nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update: Despite repeated voice and e- mails from me to Bert Moeller I still have not received any refund whatsoever but what is worse is that he will not even respond. This is the same behavior I got after I had sent my deposit and then couldn't get him to call or e-mail for a month. Anyway I am at somewhat of a loss as how to proceed.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Just following up to see if you guys got your money back. If not I suggest you go to (((redacted))) and call the number they have listed there. This is the Orange County Sheriff's Department and they may be able to assist you. If you need help skip tracing this crook, indicate on the ripoff report and I will be more than happy to assist you. I hate seeing consumers get ripped off and I am a strong advocate of severe prosecution to those that offend.

No refund from Bert Moeller

I am the father of the other teenager that was going to go on the Rugby tour headed by Bert Moeller. I basically can only echo Patrick's comments. However we (as of this writing Tuesday July 24th) have not recieved any refund whatsoever or any replies to voice mails and e-mails (which as Patrick stated were numerous and made long before the rugby tour was scheduled to leave).
If anyone can help me get in contact with him please let me know.

Patrick,

I am sorry to hear of your "ripoff" from Bert Moeller. I would suggest you contact USA Rugby and let them know of your situation and find out if this is an approved trip abroad. All tours to play rugby abroad must be approved by USA Rugby and they would want to know about a "rogue" trip if it is one. You are entitled to your refund in FULL. If you are willing to settle for the uniform then I hope you receive it and in NEW condition.

This Bert guy seems like a real piece of work and if you google him you will see that his contractor's license was revoked in 2005 for what looks like ripping off a consumer. I was curious about this guy after your complaint and the other complaint is absolutely shocking, so I did some research in public records. This guy has filed bankruptcy two times, exactly 10 years apart. Apparently he waits for the exact legal amount of time and then files BK. Thank god the laws have change a bit and it will not be so easy next time.

Do some research next time before giving your money to a stranger. It's easy, free and it could save you a lot of time, money and piece of mind.

$700 Received from Bert Moeller

Just a quick update on our deposits. After checking my mail last night, I received a cashiers check from Bert in the amount of $700. The other family in Boise did not receive anything however. Hopefully something will come in the mail on Monday.

I am very happy to get this money but baffled why the check was in the amount of $700 and not $750 as he promised. Hopefully Bert will return our calls and give us some kind of explanation. We feel that since Bert did not respond to our calls for weeks and did not supply us with confirmation letters and all of the forms forms for the trip, he owes us both a full refund.

We still will appreciate any help you can give us.
