Best Buy has cancelled the internet service provided through the Insignia and Little Buddy GPS devices it sold through the stores and internet.  These products were sold up until the date the contract with the carrier was cancelled on Dec. 1, 2011.  Best Buy did not give any prior warning to customers.  As a rsult, these products are now worthless and of no value.  The conduct of Best Buy with respect to these products is to be considered fraudulent thus paving the way for a class action lawsuit where all customers who purchased or own one of these products could join togther in bringing Best Buy to court in order to recover monies spent on the purchase of these products as well as any punitive damages the court might award.

how people accuse you for working for all these companies. No, I don't work for Best buy. I work in food manufacturing, but thanks.

As for notice, the Insignia/Best buy website has a memo dated 6/16/2011 stating that they are discontinuing the Insignia and Little buddy products. Not having the product I cannot verify the notice you were given though changing it month to month seems a pretty good indicator.

Best Buy, the company you obvisouly work for from the wealth of knowledge and great pains with which you go to defend them
- No Ashley does not work for Best Buy, and before you ask neither do I.  That is actually pretty much Standard Operating Procedure on this site when a poster does not like what is said.  But if you are basing that "employee" comment on the posts she is posting.  One could say the same about you as you seem to have a counter post for everything that was stated.

continued to sell the product up until the day BEFORE the service was terminated with the carrier in San Jose.  No mention, no prior notice in July or any other time was provided by BB to customers who purchased the product.
- So based on your knowledge when did Best Buy become aware that the Service was going to get cancelled?  If you have proof that they knew before they stopped selling them you probably have a case, but only up to the time they knew until they stopped selling it.  So if you bought yours in July and even if they knew in August you are probably SOL.

Good luck and be sure to post the court information when you file your suit.

Wrong again--

Best Buy, the company you obvisouly work for from the wealth of knowledge and great pains with which you go to defend them, continued to sell the product up until the day BEFORE the service was terminated with the carrier in San Jose.  No mention, no prior notice in July or any other time was provided by BB to customers who purchased the product.  Should you go to your companies website you will find queries as to how to turn the modem in the GPS back on as many customers are unaware that the contract with the carrier was cancelled effective December 1st 2011.   As to how much notice?  Well certainly a great deal more notice than was given to customers who made purchases during the month of November with not an inkling as to the contract with the carrier being terminated a few days later.  How much notice?  Best Buy would have been aware of the fact they were going to terminate the internet service at least twelve months prior to actually doing so.  Six months before the actual termination we were no longer able to buy 12 months of service at a time as we were only allowed to purchase month to month.  Yet, BB saw fit to NOT make public the fact they were cancelling internet service on the GPS units.  I do commend you on the attempts to make your employer look good but:  if it walks like duck, looks like duck and quacks like a duck it is most probably a duck.  Best Buy, as history has shown, is a less than honorable company.  There are more than a few reports available to show they really do not care about their customers.

Then perhaps this will help:

You are talking about multiple items in your original post. Sorry that I only focused on little buddy.

" PRODUCT NOTICE: Cancellation of GPS map updates and connected services Insignia is committed to innovation and value, helping consumers stay connected. As such, we keep a close eye on technology as it evolves and are constantly listening to our customers needs. In this process, weve seen a rise in adoption of multiuse, mobile companion devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and a growth in capabilities associated with these products, including GPS. Reflecting these new developments, Insignia is making a strategic shift to focus on these growth areas and is ceasing the production of its stand-alone GPS devices and no further map updates will be generated for existing devices.

Our quality service and support will continue to be available to current Insignia GPS customers through a variety of channels:

All customers currently under warranty will continue to receive technical support and service either by phone or in store.
For customers who purchased a subscription plan, Insignia representatives will work closely with each individual to ensure that they arrive at an appropriate solution following the end of their service.

We invite customers with specific questions about Insignia GPS products to contact Insignia Customer Service at 1-877-467-4289. "

According to their website thei announced the discontinuation of the items back in June per their FAQ. Again though, if the service is discontinued how long should you still get it? If you just purchased it prior to the end date why didn't you just return it for a refund? There's no law dictating that they must provide you service on the device forever.

Wrong Information

AUTHOR: frchrisl - (United States of America)

Firstly, WaveMarket is not the vendor for the Insignia GPS system which were sold up until the very day that the wireless service was terminated, that without any prior notice from BB.

Secondly, The service was terminated on December 1, 2011 which occurs prior to the date in April you have suggested.  The LITTLE BUDDY device will have service until April, 2012.  At such time as the service is terminated the Little Buddy device will become completely and totally useless.  The Insignia GPS device, which has already had service terminated, is now useless as regards the ability to obtain information and services through Google and the internet which was the one selling point for the device.  That a company would continue to offer a product for sale while at the same time harboring the intent to make that device useless to the purchaser within days, or even months, of the sale is an act of fraud not to mention an unfair business action or outrageous and wrongful conduct.  Much of the information you have stated in you supposed consumer comment is misleading and non-factual except with regard to the April shut off date for the Little Buddy device.

That's when its being shutoff. How much notice should a company give yuo when terminating a service? I mean, if your contract with your wireless service expires and they wish to terminate your cell phone how much notice shoul you get? Its unfortunate that best buy sold these units up to november, but if a service is getting cancelled thems the breaks. Good luck with your lawsuit, I'll quote from your contract:

"2.3 Maintenance, Modifications, Discontinuance. We (i.e. on behalf of WaveMarket and/or our suppliers) reserve the right to with or without prior notice - perform maintenance, modify, replace, refuse access to, limit access or discontinue the Service, partially or entirely and WaveMarket will have no liability to You or any third party should it exercise such rights.
