I purchased a 2006 PT Cruiser GT from Valenti Automall on 10/22/09 VIN:3A8FY78G26T210469. Over the course of the month that I owned the car, the car died on the highway a total of 9 times. I was forced to rent a car to get to work for a total of 2 weeks. I had the car serviced at a dealership local to me and neither Valenti nor my dealership were able to find out what the problem was yet the problem kept happening. I ended up trading the car back in to Valenti on 11/27/09. Today, 12/1/09, they are listing the car again for sale. They know the car is defective and they cannot figure it out but they are going to pass the problem on to the next purchaser of the vehicle. This is very bad sales practice and needs to be investigated. They sell faulty used cars and they know they are faulty yet still try to sell them to make money from the customer. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER. I have all documentation of what was done and who I spoke to should you need that information.

Your Desired Resolution:
DONT SELL THE CAR TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER!!! YOU KNOW ITS BROKE. DONT PASS IT OFF TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER.


DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. IT IS A LEMON AND THREE DEALERSHIPS KNOW IT!!!

all of your Local News Stations and see if one of their Investigative Reporters will do this-


Go into the dealership (undercover) posing as a potential buyer of a used car. The Investigative Reporter (or the person they use posing as the buyer) can try and make a deal on this PT Cruiser and they can ask questions regarding its reliability, etc. The Investigative Reporter can even fill out a credit application and go through the entire process of purchasing the PT Cruiser and at the very end, before all the contracts are signed, they can back-out by saying they need to "sleep on it". 

Then the Investigative Reporter can see how the people at the dealership will attempt to make the sale immediately, without allowing him or her to "sleep on it". It would be interesting to hear what the salesperson, the sales manager, & the finance manager would say about this PT Cruiser, which would be captured on hidden camera & microphone, wouldn't it?

Cody,

They are a Chrysler dealership. They even made me pay an extra 500.00 to have the car certified through Chrysler. They (Bob Valenti) had no idea what the problem was. First it was the type of gas I was putting in the car (PT GT requires premium 91 and up). That proved false. Then there was water in the gas. So I got gas from BP, Hess and Sunoco and added water remover to the gas tank. Proved false as well. Then it was the computer so they replaced it. That didnt work. Then it was the battery and that was replaced. That didnt fix it. At that point I gave up that they were never going to find the problem. Between Bob Valenti Chrylser, Chrysler themselves, and my local Chrysler dealership, noone was able to find the problem. It got to the point where Chrysler as well as my local dealership reccommended returning the car as it was a lemon. So thats what I did. I just dont want the next purchaser going through the same problems. I truly hope that someone looking at that car reads this before signing on the line and signing up for a large headache.

It is good to see that you got out of this clunker by trading it in. I sold cars a few years ago and I will tell you a few things to keep in mind about used cars. First, a used car is a used car...no one can make it "new" again. That being said, it is most certainly an issue when a car with known issues is sold and re-sold without the consumer being alerted to the fact. Personally, I would only buy a used car from an actual dealer of that brand. In your case, that would have meant buying your PT Cruiser from a Chrysler dealer. The reasons is simple: they can work with the manufacturer to resolve issues and their service department is likely to be more knowledgable about the particular quirks of their brand. When you buy from one of these big used car lots, you lose those two advantages.
