I was denied credit due to a delinquent account reported to both Equifax and Experian. I requested my credit report and BP/Citi came up as the company reporting my delinquincy. They stated that I owed them $115 and have since 1998.

I have bought and sold 2 homes since that date and this has never shown up on my credit file. Equifax showed that it had been turned over to Creditors Interchange, Inc. I called them to find out about it and they stated that they had not back-up on the file and sent it back to Citibank. They had no contact or telephone number to contact.

I cannot find this company on the web or via 800 directory assistance. The credit bureau states that this will stay on my record until 2007.

I'm furious! Anyone have a contact?

how to clear your credit

AUTHOR: Brenda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 22, 2003

make it the responsibility of the creditor to prove the debt, it's easy. contact the credit reporting agencies and tell them you want to dispute the delinquent account. the credit agency then sends a dispute form to the company reporting delinquent and they have 30 days to provide proof that the account is yours or it is automaticly removed from your credit by the reporting agency (TRW,EXPERIAN & TRANS UNION)

I believe your answer is CITIBANK!

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 07, 2003

BP is a gasoline company and they do offer a BP Gas Credit Card. The Citi portion of your BP/Citi stands for Citibank. In other words, the $115.00 that the agency indicates as being unpaid was due to the purchase of gasoline using a BP gasoline credit card in 1998 and that card was issued through Citibank. There is no company called BP/Citi.

Copied from a site:

Use your Platinum BP Visa card at over 15,000 BP and Amoco locations across the country and you'll earn a 3% rebate towards free gasoline.
