I purchased a three year alignment at NTB, and only used it one time. I went back yesterday, to have the front end of my vehicle aligned. Brian went out to check my vehicle, came back in an said my tires were dry rotted. I took pictures of the tires and sent to my son, who has worked on cars for 25 years, and worked for NTB at one time, years ago. I also am a CDL driver, and pay attn. to tires. No tire problems. So, told him I'll deal with tires later. Just do the front end alignment.

Brian told me it would take 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours, and to come back, or he'd call me on my cell phone when the car was ready. So after 2 hours, he calls to tell me that the front end can't be aligned, because my bearings are bad, and there's a lot of play in the front end. Something else I never noticed. So, he says in order to do the alignment, he'd have to repair the bearings, and would cut me a break on the labor charges, and that this would all come to $599.00. I told him to forget it.

Brian said one of the mechanics would bring the car out to me. So, after waiting while no one bothered to get the car to me, I went and got the car myself. There were about ten people in the service area doing absolutely Nothing.

I got my car and left, and called NTB, and asked to speak to Brian, who got on the phone, and as I began to state my case, he screamed at me, and refused to let me finish a sentence. How is it possible to be that rude to a customer? I said that the 3 three front end alignment was the most expensive front end alignment I ever had, as it was only 1 front end alignment, as I won't go back there.

Well, I took the car to my son, and he checked everything. Tires were fine, and absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with the front end of my taurus.

My son went with me to NTB in Monaca, Beaver County. Same company, mind you. They were very professional, did a 14 point service check, and all they found was my oil was low. They rotated the tires, and did the front end alignment.

Bottom line, is Brian was looking to scam me, and I don't appreciate how he screamed at me. His whole staff there are a bunch of lazy bums.

Not Too Surprised

IMO, NTB and its sister companies Tire Kingdom and Merchants have never had what I'd call 'shiny' reputations. Your story illustrates that perfectly. You have to wonder how many times Brian has pulled this ruse on other victims and cashed in. These types of operations are very numbers driven and managers are fired for not making them. I guess if a manager knows he'll be fired for not making a sale then lying to make it seems an acceptable risk.
