Buttercream rude, over priced, and unprofessional. St. Paul, Minnesota

On January 23, 2010 my fiance and I went to Buttercream for a wedding cake tasting. The lady we met with was very rude when we explained that we had a small budget and were going to get a more budget friendly sheet cake for our guests to eat unless they had a way for us to get all of the cake at a cost within our budget. She even got up to go tell all of the other employees. My fiance and I had to sit there while everyone in the store heard her talk about us with the other employees about how nasty we were for wanting a sheet cake from a cheaper place.

I asked if they had any way we could save money on a cake from them, she said no. I suggested some money saving ideas for cake I had seen online. She said no to all of them. She filled out a tentative contract with our choices for a small cake that fit into our budget. I explained to her that the cake would be served help yourself buffet style so everyone would know which cake they were eating.

On January 27, 2010 David from Buttercream called. He talked to my fiance. He said that Buttercream can not make the cake we picked out. He explained that unless we got all of our wedding cake in the form of a tier cake from them, making the wedding cake we requested would ruin their reputation. He said that his cake could not be in the room with a cheaper cake. He didnt give my fianc a chance to say anything back. It was like he called just to talk down to us. Also, I think it isn't fair to deny business to someone.

Buttercream has small grooms cakes in their portfolio. They even sell small cakes on their website. Why didnt Buttercream just put a note on our file so they could tell us they couldnt make the cake when we called them? They could have called and said, We can not make your cake. And left it at that. My fianc did not ask why they couldnt make the cake. They just wanted to call to make us feel more embarrassed. The people who work there are so unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend Buttercream to anyone!
