Car Care Center - Galveston, TX Ripoff of an out of towner Galveston Texas

My wife, our friend, and myself were in Galveston for the weekend. Sunday morning we found that are car wouldn't start. We called Car Care Center, because they were open on Sunday.

I went with the vehicle to the shop, and the mechanic Steve said that I needed a new fuel pump. He stated that the part was $724 which I thought was very high, and that with (2) other parts I needed plus $225 for labor and taxes my bill would be $1,052.

I called an auto parts store in Galveston and they quoted me a price of $269 for the same part. We then decided that we were going to try and have a friend tow the vehicle back to our normal mechanic. I asked the receptionist if we could leave the vehicle there a day or two until we could tow it. She said that would be fine if it was only a day or two. The mechanic Steve then said there's no way we could do that if they were not repairing the vehicle.

I then offered to buy the part myself and have him install it and he said he would not do that because he didn't trust the auto parts store. He then said he could do the repairs and we could drive off the lot for $875 total after taxes.

We were pretty much locked into them fixing the vehicle because if we had the vehicle towed somewhere else we already had to pay them $125 diagnostic fee and $65 towing fee plus we would have to pay for another towing service to get the vehicle off the lot. Then we would have to pay another night at a hotel, a rental car the next day to get home, and then another mechanic to fix the vehicle.

This would have put us well over $900, so we told them to fix the vehicle. I knew I was being ripped off but there was nothing I could do. Then when the work was finally completed they said our bill was $875 plus tax bring the total to $947 and change. I wasn't getting my vehicle back if I didn't pay so we paid.

This isn't the first time these people have ripped someone off. I have found several reviews on the internet of people that have been scammed. I want these people out of business and I will do everything in my power to make sure that happens.

So if you are in Galveston, TX and need repairs done to your vehicle, DO NOT go to Car Care Center. These people are crooks.
