CARFAX information is inaccurate in a report generated on our car and it is proving impossible to correct, and costing us on the value of the tade-in. The inaccurate statement is that the airbag deployed. This never happened.
The dealer from which the car was purchased claims never to have submitted any information to CARFAX indicating an airbag deployment. The body shop that the car has been in claims never to have submitted anything to CARFAX indicating an airbag deployment.
Contacting CARFAX is impossible as well. They will only accept a web submission for incorrect information. I have now submitted the information twice with the expectation that I would at least receive an email confirmation that my request was received. No such confirmation ever came. The website states: "after submitting the above form you'll receive contact and personalized service from our Product Support team." No such contact ever came.
We are now at the mercy of CARFAX for having incorrect information reported from somewhere that is now unfixable.

After finally venting frustration on this website we heard from CARFAX, submitted documentation and they fixed the incorrect information in the report.
I suggest that CARFAX should be subject to the same standards as the credit reporting agencies and offer a free report to a consumer during their ownership so they know what is going on and don't encounter unwelcome surprises at the time of sale or trade-in and have to go through all the hassle of updating the information. I can't imagine too many consumers having records back 3 or more years like I fortunately did.
