I purchased a car from carmax two years ago. This car has given me trouble after trouble. Carmax and the ford dealership has had my car numorus times. Most of the times carry my car to carmax the service would have to be repeated or not fixed. Also purchased the exstended warrenty. Do not buy a car from this dealership, you will be purchasing something that someone else has unloaded. My car has low miles but was a piece of junk.
I contacted Atlanta Corp. about the car purchased they refered me back to carmax in raleigh and corp. just does not care. Also my best friend purchased low miles car which I asked him not to buy and he has had to take it to back. I have heard really bad stories about carmax cars. Do not be fooled by there we will buy it back within thirty days, what about 45, 60 days. They purchase cars from anyone and will sell it to anyone. My car looks new on the outside, the inside has been hell.
Stay AWAY

Sounds like a typical Carmax employee. I have been to your store and I have to say SIR that was the WORST experience I have EVER had in buying a car. In fact I returned the car under the buyback cuz it was a POS and it was an import. Your sales staff was rude and incompetent during the purchase and when I returned the car. Yes, I could have chosen not to buy the car but I proceeded and was happy to dump it off when it didnt work out to ensure that salesperson did not receive credit for the sale. I have also heard that Rockville store gets the "stale" cars that overflow from Dulles and some of the larger stores in the area. Juding by what I saw on the lot that seemed accurate.
BTW...its extremely rare if ever a title gets "branded" with the term "lemon". I think she was referring to the general term given the number of problems she experienced. I think CarMax would find itself in a heap of legal trouble if they tried to sell a car with this branding.
CarMax is what it is for people who dont want to haggle and want to compare a number of different brands. They are by far NOT the cheapest NOR do they put out the cleanest cars. I have had a few cars appraised that they pointed out issues on...all of which were minor compared to the crap I have seen them tryin to pass off and sell for retail. But unfortuneatly there is a sucker born every minute otherwise car dealers wouldnt be in business.
It all boils down to CAVEAT EMPTOR!

A lemon car is something that says 'lemon' or an 'equivalent' term on the title. Carmax would not know if the car was lemon or not if it was not on the title or history. And, most probably, your car has not been reported as lemon, so carmax sold it confidently. The company that you should be blaiming is FORD. Let me ask a question? Why do you think Toyota is selling more than any other American car brands? Or Why Japanese cars are known as reliable? Why extended warranty companies are charging more for FORD cars than any Japanese cars? Think about that. Ask me how I know all these.. Guess what: I had a lemon FORD Focus, and my best friend had a brand new - and later LEMON- Ford F150 too.
You may choose to stay away from Ford, but don't need to stay away from Carmax. Besides, it is better than any other used car dealerships. for sure..
