I called to simply ask a question and was spoken to by someone who sounded like a fired ex-car-salesman trying to sell me a car with no tires.

He was an extremely rude, fast talking unprofessional man who informed me that he was required by the "state" to send me an "adverse letter". I ask why, was told that "because I did't obtain a loan it was necesary to send the letter". Thus, going on my credit report that I was refused the loan.

I never ask for a loan and have never heard this type of statement before. Am I mistaken in thinking that the information he gave me is incorrect?

You get one free credit rating report every year

from each of the big-three credit agencies, so request one report every 4 months from each of the "big three" in rotation. Also "I THINK" if you are "rejected" you also get a free credit report and letter telling you who rejected you and why.

Look to see if your idiot tire-free-car-salesman actually did anything. You cannot be "rejected" if you never applied ("applied" here meaning you never supplied them with any personal info for any reason).

Besides, why did you ever call them in the first place? There seems to be many tales of woe here from people who got involved with easy-loan deals, payday loan deals, and so on, and they all just got deeper and deeper into a financial hole.
