I am another misled and lied to victim of Charles Pope Cellular. They will be charging my credit card for at least 266.14 for two returned phones plus 100.00 restocking fees. I don't know why It cost them $366.14 for me to have two phones for four days. I bought Monday May 28 and returned Saturday June 2, 2007. They of course showed me where I intitialed there are no cash refunds.
Yes I did initial it after questioning them on the policy- the reply was don't worry about it, you won't want to return your phones or cancel your service. Their contract is double talk all over the place. For instance they make you initial that your phone may have been used and returned by someone else within the 15 day period and ten sold to you. Then thier explanation of why they don't give refunds is that the phones are sold at a discounted price with new activations and CANNOT be resold after they have been used.
So which story is true, both, neither?? I was told Alltel did not have any FINE PRINT don't worry, you don't need to read, just sign, sign, initial. After signing this agreement you are presented with a total in handwriting which you agree to be charged that day.
Then you get charged and find you invoice receipt in the folder you are give with copies when you get home with a computer invoice you have never seen before that breaks down what you were charged on your credit card for. There are four charges which were never spoken of or initialed or signed that yoiu agree at all, these are mystery charges that they explain in severel ways after the fact when questioned.
Two $35.00 CPC processing fees one foe each phone and two $9.95 CPC programming fees. The two answers for that one are for manually putting about 20-25 numbers in one phone's phonebook, they offered to do this but did not say there would be a charge. The second phone was not touched.
When that was not an acceptable answer the story changed to that was in case you need a loner phone if yours needs repair. That is crap too, You have to initial the contract where it says" We have a loaner phone program available if needed. Only requires a refundable deposit of $50.00 at time of request." Thier next lie was I requested that my business buy the phones and have the bill in my business name since I wll be using the phones for my business. They did a credit check on my business and wanted a copy of my tax ID number.
The plan I picked out was apparently not eligible for business use, so it was put in my name along with my business name. When I went to the website to mange the account it would not let me in as a business. I bought two phones with the famous Alltel Family "my circle" plan. I was told both phones could have a separate list of ten my circle numbers, another lie- all phones on this plan must share the same ten numbers.
I could have more complaints but I am tired of writing and have wasted enough money and time on this sorry excuse for a company which apparently gets away with legal robbery, since I noticed that people have been complaining about them for at least several years now. In closing Alltel must also be partially to blame since they keep this company as an "authorized agent". Alltel's website 15 day guarantee states under the "Equipment portion"- I will quote to the word- "Any handset or accessory may be exchanged or returned to the original point of purchase once within 15 days from date of purchase.
To be to be eligible for a full purchase price refund, equipment shall be in like new condition and should include all the original parts/pieces, original sales receipt(if purchased from a retail location or authorized agent) and in the original packaging with UPC code intact" Why does Alltel keep Charles Pope as an agent if Charles Pope does not abide by Alltel's written promise? Why do my intials mean more than a multimillion dollar company's promise? We tried Cingular a few years ago and they were honest and did not charge us an outrageous amount for keeping thier phones for 10 days. Charles Pope and Alltel- RIP OFF COMPANIES!

Why I returned the phones
AUTHOR: Brenda - (U.S.A.)

THe 1st reason to return the phones was the service was lousy, dropped calls, non-delivered text messages, garbled, static could not hear, not loud enough. I can't say whether it was the phones or service though I do suspect the service since it was on both phones?
Reason 2 -was I found out about all the misleading information I was given to sign me up- thought I was getting a business contract, not a personnal one. You had to share the ten numbers for my circle between both phones. Unauthorized charges showed up on my invoice after I got home and read the "file folder" given to me. Yes I agreed to the total but thought the extra costs above the phone costs were activation fees, insurance, taxes, etc. Not mystery undisclosed CPC processing fees.
Reason 3 -after contacting Alltel- I found out they have the rudest most uncooperative customer service I ever have had to contact, they don't even let you talk, they talk right over you, and threaten you- one girl (Denise)said all I have to do is push this button and you will be charged $400.00.
Reason 4- I don't want to work with any company or (authorized agent- what a joke)that treated me as rudely as Charles Pope and Alltel did, they did not care, their website promise of 15 days risk free is false advertisement in my eyes. How can you try their service without getting a phone??
Charles Pope Cellular in no way deserves to keep $366.16 of my money for what they did. It did not cost them $366.16. I can see them getting $100.00 for restocking after I returned the phones in perfect condition- that would be fair. They are an unethical company with no morals and I hope they go out of business because of their evil ways- they will one day, but how many more people will they deceive and steal from before then? It won't be any of my friends or my customers. Since I will tell my side of the story to anyone interested.

In your statement you did not give a reason for returning the items you purchased. Did the service not work? Did you not like the phones?
