I want to second the prior report on Charter.  I had an experience identical to theirs.  I also live in a rural area, and have better service in another area for $30.00 less  from Comcast.  Charter is the only service provider in my area, and has inflated prices accordingly.

Why are DirecTV and Dish not able to provide service in your area?  This would pretty much override their "monopoly."

BTW, TRUE monoplies are governed by Utility Commissions as to their rate structures.  They, as a TRUE monopoly cannot just  raise rates without approval.

You wouldn't be a bit of drama queen would you?
