Christian Phillippe - "Puppy Dogs" Do NOT Buy a Dog Here San Diego California

This man should be put in jail for fraud and animal cruelty. He sold us a very sick dog whose vet services cost us over $3000 in the first 10 days. She had an intestinal blockage, which kept her from eating and drinking water. This caused severe dehydration, anemia, anorexia. Also, she had a severe case of roundworm and our vet questionned whether she actually received the vaccinations Christian Phillippe claimed to have given her.

Our vet made it clear that this adorable little dog was close to dead when we brought her home and the only thing that kept her going was she had a taste of what good treatment was and was fighting to survive so she could enjoy more of it. That, and the around-the-clock care and monitoring we gave her for over 3 weeks. Oh, and that $3000 in vet services to nurture her back from death.

We researched him (unfortunately after buying the puppy) and learned that he has an extensive criminal history involving a large-scale fraud ring that engaged in retail theft and then reselling of the stolen merchandise. He was sentenced and served time. Their was a year-long investigation that involved the local and state police, the FBI, IRS and California BOE sales tax department. See Channel 10 news. It was 1995 or 1996, I believe.

I returned to his "pet store" a week or so after buying the dog and was horrified to learn that he is only open 2 hours a day - the puppies are left in those kennels, unsupervised, the other 22 hours each day. This is despicable - locking a puppy in a cage 22 hours a day.

We have reported him to animal control, and not surprisingly, they are quite familiar with him and are trying to catch him doing something they can use to shut him down. Wish them luck!
