I know my credit isn't the greatest because of my financial situation over the last five years. A year ago, I found myself back on my feet again, and I came upon ConsumerInfo.com, and figured I would try to pay off some old debts that were on my credit report.

Well, I made the same mistake as a lot of people on this. I fell for the free credit report, got it 2 weeks later, and found it quite useless. I also made the mistake of not reading the fine print. You know.. that VERY small "terms and conditions" link at the bottom of the home page.

Long story short, if I had actually seen the terms and conditions at the time, I never would have put my card down for payment. Just reading the terms and conditions lets you know just how the company handles it's business. Go ahead, read it. They are effectively telling you that they can bill you out of the blue without your authorization. And if your account does not have sufficient funds, they will bill you anyways, and you are responsible for overdraft fees.

Well, I don't run a business, but if I did, I would sure as hell let my customer know when I'm going to bill them, and when their free trial ends. This leads me to conclude that this is not a legitimate business - that it is just a scam to make money. Their product is useless and their charges are exorbitant.

I've contacted my bank to cancel what to me is an unauthorized charge on my account. They did so without question. I'll let ConsumerInfo.com figure out on their own that I don't want their service. After all, they never had the courtesy to verify that fact before pulling money from my account. Why should I tell them I'm not paying?
