WHEN I PURCHASED A LAPTOP COMPUTER, THE SALES PERSON TOLD ME THE EXTRA ADDED $300 INSURANCE WOULD COVER EVERYTHING, PARTS, LABOR ETC IF IT BROKE. WELL, THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, IT DID EXACTLY THAT. TOOK IT TO THE STORE WHERE I WAS INFORMED THE INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER IT AND IT WOULD COST $69 TO DO A CHECK ON IT TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER.

STAY AWAY FROM CIRCUIT CITY, I HAVE HEARD MORE HORROR STORIES, BUT WAS NOT THERE WHEN THEY HAPPENED, SO CANNOT SAY MORE. I FOUND MY MOST ENJOYABLE PURCHASES AT BEST BUY AND WILL NOT SHOP AT CIRCUIT CITY EVER AGAIN.

Sounds like you didn't read you info on the City Advantage

Being a firedog Tech I have to say I run into people with your same issue all the time. To be clear you need to read your city advantage information packet that is given to you when you buy the warranty. It covers everything stated in that pamplet.

Firedog also checks your pc for free if you have the warranty. The customer is only charged when there is a software issue (Virus, corrupt operating system, etc). I would make an educated guess based on my experience of two years at my position that you had a virus and wanted it cleaned for you for free unfortunately that's the same thing as me buying a car with a warranty, smashing it into a light pole, then taking it back to my dealer asking for it to be fixed (I bought the warranty but theres no way that could cover it).

In short you didn't go about claiming your warranty in the correct way (Calling tech support and mailing off the laptop). Most likely it was user error (which is pretty much everything firedog works on). And it sounds like you are sour about a warranty that once purchased you agreed you would handle in the proper manner. Sadly you didn't and this is the result. Go about it the right way and you will be helped.

CityAdvantage For Computers

Sounds like everyone was right; just from different directions.

Your sales associate was correct; your Protection Plan does cover your parts and labor costs and other coverages listed in your paperwork (and depending on which plan you selected; may cover Accidental Damage as well.) The people in-store were correct; their "Firedog" PC Technicians have services available for walk-up customers in need of help.

To file a claim on your CityAdvantage Protection Plan, you'll need to contact them at 1-800-555-4615, or go to circuitcity.com and click on "Protection Plans" under the SERVICES link on the Homepage. There you can set up service, call the number I provided above, or e-mail them; whichever way you like best.

OTHER STUFF:
The store may have said your issue was not covered if it really wasn't; depending on what was wrong with the laptop and the type of plan you purchased. Also; some states might differ, but in general the Manufacturer will perform repairs during the Manufacturer Warrany Period, unless its a specific repair CityAdvantage covers that the Manufacturer does not.

After the Manufacturer's Warranty Expires, your coverage terms fall onto CityAdvantage. In general, they would not directly cover a typical repair during the Manufacturer Warranty period. Regardless, if you have a covered repair according to your documentation, contacting the above references will get you in contact with the right people to setup service.

Hope this helps.
