City College of Altamonte Springs City College of Orlando Forcing student to attend their college! Violating student rights! Withholding Financial Aid! Altamonte Springs, Florida

I regret the day I set foot in City College! The teachers are great but the Financial Aid Dept. is a total nightmare to deal with! When I wanted my financial aid check which I was entitled to Roy acted like it was coming out of his pocket.

Roy always had a sarcastic tone with me when I needed financial aid assistance. I decided to attend another school and withdrew in early April and I still cannot get Latina in Financial Aid to remove the hold that City College currently has on my funds.

I feel strongly that my rights are being violated by City College because they are keeping me from attending the school of my choosing as well as causing my loans to come out of deferment before I can enroll in another college! I find it very interesting that the City College Financial Aid Dept. could get me into classes with them and place my past loans in deferment for me within hours but now it is taking months, begging, and pleading with them to release my financial aid.

 I strongly believe that they are trying to force me to attend their school so that my student loans do not come out of deferment. They have a hold on my financial aid until Sept. 2012 as a result of this if I do not attend school before Sept. 2012 then my Loans will come out of deferment and I must make payments on them! This will cause me a financial hardship. In my opinion City College is betting on this!

I feel that this is their way of forcing me to attend their school because I cannot attend any other until after they remove the Sept. 2012 hold on my financial aid. I keep emailing Latina for assistance with this matter but she keeps playing dumb with me or blaming my new school of choice if she replies to my emails at all.  

The US Dept. of Education told me that all City College has to do is to change my ending date on my loans from September 2012 to April 2012 so that my financial aid will be released to my new school of choice. I have sent Latina several emails and she has still not done this simple thing for me in order to release my Financial Aid. 

This evening Latina stated that I must see her in person to discuss it further. I do not feel comfortable at all doing this because Roy in Financial Aid was very rude to me when I requested to withdraw. He berated me and told me that I would regret my choice to attend another school.  My last visit to the Financial Aid Dept. was a very tense one so I have no desire to go back.

 As a result of all of my recent negative dealings with the City College Financial Aid Department I feel that it would be in my best interest to keep everything in writing! I believe that she wants to see in me in order to try and get me to re-enroll in City College.

 I refuse to be bullied or forced against my  will to attend any college other than one that I choose to attend. Since Latina will not simply honor my request it now looks as though I am going to have to file a formal complaint with the US Dept. Of Education and the ACICS which is the Accreditation Board for City College in order to get my financial aid released to another school.

 I do not recommend City College to anyone not only for the issues with Financial Aid but also because of other problems I encountered with City College. Upon enrolling, I was told that my credits would transfer in from other colleges that I attended. Upon registering for my second term with City College I was informed that they would not be recognizing any credits from other schools that I attended.

 In addition to this, I found out that reputable universities do not accept degrees from ACICS Colleges like City College. So I found out that all of my hard work and 4.0 GPA at City College was only a waste of my time. Not to mention all of the additional fees thatthey hit you with that is not only unnecessary but better schools do not charge.

 In my opinion City College is trying to force me to go back and attend their school because it is easier than fighting them in addition to the fact that they only care about making money off of their students! It seems that City College is like Hotel California you can enroll but you can NEVER LEAVE!
