I found out that this company is a scam. They say it only cost $1 a month to belong to club/magazine. Then they hit you with a $330 bill.

Former CCOA member

AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 19, 2006

I am a former member of CCOA, for the second time. The first time, when I joined, they screwed me on the free gifts. I thought no big deal, then they send you a book trying to get you into a monthly book club (without you requesting it), in addition to attempting to get you to join lifetime with a large number of mass mailing campaigns. After CCOA repeatedly ignoring requests to stop sending the monthly books, I attempted to cancel the membership. It took me over six months to get the membership cancelled and for them to stop mailing me with offers claiming I was still a member.

Several years later, I decided to join again figuring maybe they have improved. Guess what? They not only screwed me over on the "two free gifts" again, but even messed up my first order for a garlic jar. After 5 emails, 3 phone calls (all from me to them) I received "we are so sorry for your inconvenience" emails and telephone responses from March of 06 through August of 06, yet nothing was ever sent from CCOA to correct the non-receipt of the free items and the purchased one. In two of the emails, they claimed to have switched shippers which resulted in the loss of my orders, in addition to the "lost in the mail" excuses.

However, they were quick to send me a "book club" book to try and I would pay only $10 to keep. Back goes the book, still no free gifts or order, did get partial membership refund, and still receiving mailings claiming I am a "member in good standing elected to join the lifetime" benefits.

Guess it will take another six months to get them to stop sending me info again.

Any other current or future member, I wish you good luck with them. However, in my personal view, the two times I was a member with them, their customer service is worthless since my problem kept getting passed around and not resolved.

It Cost A Lot of Money

AUTHOR: Tracy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 19, 2006

So when do you stop paying your money to this cooking club? I have been told it is very hard to get them to stop your account.

You are going to have to really convince me before I send any of my money. Yes, I am a gourmet cook and baker.

I have had CCOA

the only reason they charge $300 for cooking club of america is if you sign up to be a Lifetime Member. I did and its only $24 a month. otherwise its $24 for the year. It is NOT a scam! It helps people that want to be chefs.

if I can ask, how can they bill you for $330 when they do in fact say it's $1 a month?? what are they billing you for? I only found 2 reports on this company and they$ claim to have 500,000+ members. they do pressure you, have to return the RSVP within 10 days. I love to cook and want to join so I ask any other members to respond to this or is it the classic if it sounds to good to be true ...........
