Our family took a vacation to Hilton Head 2 summers ago and went to a Wal Mart to grab a few things.  A man at a booth out front gave us free tickets for a boat tour to Daufuskie Island, and a few extra freebies...   We went the next day to hear the presentation and the saleslady kept us there for 5 hours harrassing us to buy this RCI point program.  We had our children there and I was so disgusted.  She told us we'd get a free week every year we could sell and in 2 years it would pay off our 6000 loan.  She told us many lies.  She told us there'd be a small maintenance fee of around a couple hundred dollars every 2 years...that was a lie as well.  We gave them a down payment and made several monthly payments.  We received a maintenance fee bill for over 900 dollars!!  I tried to call about it and I got no reply over and over.  We then received a late fee of over 450 dollars!  We have been harrassed ever since that.  We quit paying our monthly bill and I'm sure to suffer on my credit report.  We are going to talk to a lawyer, but it will do us no good I fear.  We are sick and disgusted with this company who lies to sell their "product!"  We are desperate for help in this situation.  We just want out of this contract of lies.  We don't want any money back...we just want out.  I want all visitors to Hilton Head to beware of this disgustin company.  We were even talked into putting our points up for sale by a lady named Paula from Coral Resorts billing dept.  We took her advice and put it up for sale with a company called "Resort Solutions."  THey charged me 600 dollars to do that, even.  I have never heard a word from that company!!!  Another ripoff!!  This whole situation has been a complete nightmare that we can't escape.

We got out this way...

We too were victimized by Coral Resorts. It has cost us our initial investment, paid in full in cash, but we have succeeded in severing ties with the company.

We purchased a unit in January of 2012, while we were visiting the island with our daughter and grandson, to celebrate birthdays and an anniversary. We were thrilled. That sure didn't last too terribly long. We went through a lot of stuff other people did. Sadly, we kept giving the company the benefit of the doubt.

Long and short of it is this: we did not receive our deed for over one year; we got a bill for maintenance fees which we disputed; we got another biill for maintenance fees with a 50% late fee; we tried emailing, calling, everything short of making a return visit and never had the courtesy of a single return phone call. Same as everyone else. Finally, we contacted the Better Business Bureau with our complaint. That started getting us responses from the company. Funny how that happens, right? We were persistent with what we wanted -- out! We finally agreed to just give them our initial investment. In return they agreed to quit pursuing us with collection efforts which, by the way, they mentioned in a letter could cost us legal fees of up to $1,600.00 per week.

Don't waste another dime of your hard-earned money on this company. The Better Business Bureau is free. And they will at least get you responses. We have no affiliation with the BBB; we're just glad we had them to get a line of communication to the company.

The company provided us with a quit claim deed, which gives the interest back to them. Voila! We're done. We're no longer a timeshare owner. All it's going to take is the cost of a postage stamp to get rid of them once and for all.

We regret ever getting involved with this company. We're sure you do, too. If you are as disgusted as we were, to the point that you can walk away and chalk it up to experience, which we did, we strongly suggest the Better Business Bureau. At least you will get some responses from the company and hopefully they will leave you alone. If and when you do, though, stick firm with what you want and read their responses very carefully. An example is, they agreed that we would have no further obligation to them. Sounds good, right? But we thought that in dealing with a company like this we had to have something more, and continued to insist on no further and no past obligation to them. Their final response to us was it would be "a complete parting of the ways." Not perfect, because we lost our initial money, but we'll take it to be rid of them. Can't help but wonder if this isn't what they do to so many people. I think they are a blight on the sunny face of South Carolina.
