I just read a complaint on this site regarding a timeshare problem with Coral Resorts and I was shocked that the representations made by the salesman in that complaint was exactly the representations that were made to us. We went to Hilton Head through our Disney Vacation Club. The condos at Coral Sands can be used through our Disney Timeshare. Disney Vacation Club is an amazing timeshare experience. We went to a presentation by Coral Resorts.
The salesman asked us what we paid for maintenance fees for our Disney Vacation Club. We told him that we paid about $2000 a year. He told us that we should buy their timeshare because it included a developer's week that would be purchased each January for about $2300 and we would receive a check for $1700 which would pay for our Disney maintenance fees. We were told that in January we would receive a check for this amount.
When January came and went we called Coral Resorts who told us we had to call Resort Solutions Inc. to list the property. When we called Resort Solutions Inc. we were told it would cost us $240 to list the property. We paid the $240 and a year and a half later we have heard nothing from Resort Solutions, Inc. I called the salesman again. His name was Sydney.
He said that unfortunately the policy changed a few months after we purchased our timeshare and now we have to list the with an agent and we no longer were able to receive a check for our developers week. We were also told by Sydney when we purchased 21,333 points that we could rent a timeshare for 9000 a week if booked within a 45 day window, however, when you get on RCI these timeshares are NEVER available within a 45 day window.
I even called Sydney after we signed the contract within the 3 day period to resind the contract and he confirmed we could rent a timeshare for 9000 points. Sydney was such a nice guy who turned out to be a lying, deceitful salesman. We called Coral Resorts about the lies and they did not offer to do anything. Stay away from Coral Resorts. Just found out they have an "F' rating with the Better Business Bureau.
I can't understand how the State of SC can allow such deceptive practices to continue.

Same problem with Coral Resorts

My husband and I also have issues--- we were told one thing when we bought our timeshare and then when we signed the contract someone "told us the gist" of it and asked us to sign each page--- he went through it so fast and it was our fault for trusting them but nothing is like they said. They told us that the maintenance fees would be $395 every other year but we just got our first bill for $979.70. They told us the developer week was free... an added bonus to our points-- just called and it was going to be $1400 to book our "free" developer week.... seperate "fees" for that......
When we talked to the company throught the BBB, they said we signed a contract and that they did not have to put the fee totals in the contracts so we were ultimatelly stuck.
When I called customer service- the woman was rude- told me multiple times that the fees were in the contract- I kept trying to tell her that we were told something different when we bought but she didn't care.
We were told that the resort could sell our developer weeks if we couldn't go but they don't--- when we contacted the company they told us to in order to rent out our week, we also paid $240 for them to do it-- January 31st we paid and December 1, they still hadn't called us or sold our week--- I called and raised cane with them about it.... their website lists people who paid and rented their weeks in August before those of us who listed in Janauray. The whole thing is a scam and a sham... their sales people LIED and I believe that everyone knows it is going on and they dont' care- they make a killing off of their "owners" who don't own anything at all..... we pay more in fees than any vacation to the carriabean would be.
I would love to contact someone else if they are having the same problems...

We purchased a time share through Coral Resorts back in April 2012. We have vacationed several years in Hilton Head are were so excited about the ability to continue to vacation there every year with out the hassle of finding a place to stay. I wish we knew we were going from the frying pan to the fire. Over the last two days we have discovered most everything others have written.
Our first payment comes out in 16 days and I am going to do everything in my power to correct our mistake, silly me for thinking that Coral Resorts was an upstanding business with honest employees! Like most people these days, we are financially strapped and put the money we would of used for our vacation toward our down-payment thinking we would be able to reserve our condo 30 days out with no problem, this per our sales person Julie Stefan who assured us, even showed us the available condo for the month of July. What a joke!!
I feel like such a sucker because we just didnt know. We have family members who have time shares and have had absolutely no problems but we are finding out the hard way (and expensive way) that Coral Resorts should not be trusted.
I wanted to know what action you have taken or if you can give me any information. I am looking for help and willing to help others who are in our same situation. I have contacted others who have recently experienced these same issues and would like to put something together. Thank you for your help!
