Charge 2.70 per call plus tax. Billed in prepay only to love one of immate. Payments being made to correctional billing services.

At any given time they can cut your phone call off. With a recording " No custom calling features available". This has happened to me sooo many times. When in fact NO features were being used. The problem was the phone cords them selfs inside jail.

The immates have complained about this for I know 8 months. When my man would made any kind of movement while talking.. we would get cut off. weather call was 5 seconds on 20 minutes. I have sent him pieces of tape on letters for him to try & repair. Each pod has 3 phones. Only 1 works in J pod Henry co.

When I complain to correctional billing services, I'm told that the jail had to maintain the "phones". Well, if their being told, by immates, I called was told jail, told they had nothing to do with phones. I pay my hard earned money to "correctional billing". I feel like they need to be responseable for my dropped called.

When calling correctional billing with this concern. I have been told: would credit for dropped called. With the out come being told: well since calls being made to cell phone they would not credit anything. When my man calls, I STOP everything to talk with him! Meaning, Sitting down. not moving around to chance losing signal.

Since March of 2006. today being July 19. I have paid over $1,300 to correctional services. Less than a week ago paid $58 now already calls blocked. Without any notice. And if I make another payment right now, I will get 1 call tomorrow. Then next day all the amount I paid will allowed. (providing he can get on phone. With 43 men in a 18 man pod!)

Here's a clue..

AUTHOR: Jesters - (U.S.A.)

The CBS systems are more than likely giving you the "No features allowed on phone" message because you've got CALL FORWARDING - which is a feature on your phone. The system detects it and cuts the call off.. as it will do if someone beeps through on the other line. The systems are delicate for a reason - the person is in a facility and certain precautions are needed in order to maintain a level of security.

If you don't want the calls to drop, remove all features from your phone and use a landline.

I'm sorry for firing off at you. That was not my intentions. I'm just so upset over this bull crap! Bad enough my man is in there. And I have to tote to whole load by myself. I did read your entire post. Guess I've been being treated like just another phone call, I pasted you off as, just another screen to "SCREAM" at. I do apoloize. And thank you for taking to time to pass your advice.

but somehow it did not get posted.

Yes, Kellie..I have been in the Telecommunications field for 27 yrs and do know when a cell call gets dropped, it just goes dead. However, CBS is going to use the fact that the number dialed is a cell number every time to deny you a credit. Even if you forward your cell phone to a landline, they still show that the number dialed was a cell. I was trying to help you obtain credits from CBS and all you did was fire back at me in some venomous new post.

If you had bothered to read my entire post, you would have seen that I, and much of the Telecommunications world, think CBS is a predatory firm that provides poor service for a high price. They do it because they can. If someone in a correctional facility wants to speak to their family, they have no choice but to use CBS. They have no incentive to provide quality service.

So, if you want to continue paying for dropped calls, continue using a cell. They will deny you the credit everytime. (and yes, I understand you have to work during the day)

collectional billing cell phone excuse!

See report #2 filed first.
If your in the Telcommunications field, then you should very well know; when you loose signal, you just go dead, drop call, nothing, gone, over! Guess what not the case here. the case here is... RIP OFF!!! The calls don't just end. We both hear a recording.. "NO CUSTOM CALLING FEATURES AVAILBE". And as for landline, when I am at home I do have calls forwarded to landline. Calls are still ended. Just not as many.

And note on good side. 2 days after this report. 2 phones have been repaired. :)

Use A Landline

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 19, 2006

I am in the Telecommunications field and have to agree with Correctional Billing as far as the dropped calls to a cell phone. There is no way for them to determine whether they dropped the call or the cell did. You can remain as still as a statue and still lose a cell call. If you want to guarantee getting a credit for dropped calls from them, use a landline.

That being said, I think Correctional Billing is one of the most predatory firms around. They have a (no pun intended) captive audience who have no choice but to use their service if they want to talk to their loved ones. Yes, these men and women are in jail but it's not them being hurt financially by this, it's their families.
