Correctional Billing Services, Evercom ripoff rates, horrible service Selma Alabama

Correctional Billing Services (Evercom)has a monopoly with many correctional facilities throughout the USA. Rates are extremely high to connect for each call( about $5) and then $1 per minute. Cannot help wondering if the correctional facility shares in the charges ( kickback).

Problems I have encountered: at time of starting service there was no explaination of rules or limits and I now find my phone to be permanently blocked and they will not open the line for calls from a correctional facility; for another phone line they cut off service after a certain dollar amount was reached but CBS never informed us of that limit and now has not started service even though bills are paid; I have repeatedly called their "customer service" phone number only to get a recorded message that they are busy and call back later and then automatically hangs up.

I will not go on about some other issues, suffice to say this clearly is a ripoff in terms of cost and service. I plan to contact FCC and state and federal representatives.
