Do not fall into the trap of this company.  I had a credit card issued by this rip off group.  I had made my payments on time and then one month I called the day it was due.  I made the payment and was told it was late and would be charged not only an illegitimate late fee but also an overlimit fee.  This happened the next two months and although I tried to resolve this it was like trying to get a pig to lay an egg.  Common sense and intellegence don't go together with this group.  BEWARE, do not get ripped off by this company.  Then when it couldn't be worked out they aquired Midland Funding to go after me.  They listed multiple account numbers so they could falsify the number of collection accounts for Credit One.  Thier dishonesty is spread over many aspects.

Responsibility

First off I am not a fan of Credit One because I think that they do try to Capitalize(pun not intended) on Capital One and take advantage of people who fail to pay enough attention.

However, with that said...in this case YOU are the one at fault.

First of all by law a credit card must accept payments up until 5PM local time as being received that day.  Some banks extend that time longer.  However, if you pay it 1 minute after that time..even by phone you are late and are charged a very legitimate late fee.  If that happens to put you over your limit then you are again charged a very legitimate over the limit fee.

Now, you wouldn't have been charged an over the limit fee..if you weren't close to your limit.   Credit One did not rip the card out of your wallet and force you to purchase things on it..that was 100% YOUR choice.  If you talk to just about any creditor or people that deal in credit the "ideal" usage on your credit card is between 30-50% of your credit line.  Your bill is due every month at the same time, and you get your statement a good couple of weeks in advance.  They did not hold your hands down and not allow you to make a payment before the due date..again that was you.

I too have dealt with them

It is common practice with them.  I also have paid them on the due date and had them do the same thing.  Fortunately I have a son that's a lawyer and one letter and they're running like a dog.

Oh Yes...All THEIR Fault!

YOU made the payment LATE...they didn't get it in time.  Who did???  YOU did.  You were maxed out.  Who was??? YOU were.  The late payment YOU made caused a late fee because YOU were maxed out.  No Einstein, I don't work for them.
