My wife and i decided to look for a local moving company as we were moving just 3 miles away. a search on the internet brought up a number of companies and we contacted them all. cross country moving and storage was our choice because they offered a ''good deal'' and they seem to have excellent customer service by they way the answered the phone. i spoke to john who sent me an email and was very nice ont he phone. he told me that moving for the first three hours will be $285 with a $75 charge for any additional hour. I was ok with that because i knew moving from a one bedroom apartment to another one bedroom within 3 miles should not take the whole day.

they arrived on time on the moving day and thats when my nightmare began. i had to go over 15 pages of paperwork with the driver who was so slow that by the time we were done i had already lost 30 mins . i was not worried because i had already packed and boxed all my stuff so it should not take time. the driver told me that they had to use tape and bubble wrap on my dining table so as to protect the glass. i was the bothered as john as asured me that all moving assersories were part of the charge. then we got to my new flat and the driver presented me a bill of $1000 yes $1000 shocked as i was i asked him where the $1000 came from. he told me the bubble wrap and tape he used for the dining table was $500 and they had to use 2 medium size boxes to cover the bubble wrap and thats an extra $100. I imediatly called John the ''nice'' gentilman whom i made the reseavation with and it looked like i was speaking to a tottally different person. he told me those were their chrges and that was not included in his estimate. he actually told me i must be out of my mind to think that they would use their own bubble wrap for free. he told the driver not to of load my stuff untill i paid the whole amout and to charge me for any extra hours they spent there. i asked to speak to a manager and he was even worse. he would not listen to me and went further by calling me stupid and i should have asked the driver how much the wraps cost before he used it.

they will not reduce the charges. i had to pay $1000 to move from a one bedroom to another with 3 miles. I wish i had read about this company as i only found out later through other consumer reports about their rip off operations. I hope their next potential victim reads this before consedering using them.
