If you work at CVS they will lie to you. They offered me 20 hours a week. They cut it and cut it to less than three hours at one point. Then they want me to work 50 on no notice. They get mad if I am out on a day off and do not get the messages to come to the store right away. They say that they train you but they do not, you can go on your own to a place but it is not that good.

They do not care about customers, managers and pharmacists get mad when they complain because it costs them bonus money. You should just look at how much stock options LARRY MERLO, the head of CVS stores, got.

And this is off people he pays $6 an hour and off customers he mistreats and overcharges. I am glad Eckert is coming, maybe they will put CVS out of business.

I have a very successful background in sales and management. I have managed a larger volume retail drugstore before, and upon moving to an area in which CVS lived, I was pretty happy, as I knew CVS pays salaried management well.

I accepted their offer of fast-track management training, and anticipated my own store within a years time. This would have certainly been attainable, should I have been provided something similar to training, or at least been subjected to an environment in which rules remained the same for all.

My final comment will be that if you are looking for a career in which you can easily work 60+ hours, and for an employer that WILL expect more- You've FOUND it with CVS.

The day I left, I had already decided that if they asked me to stay, and offered an increase to 6 figs I would NOT have accepted (not that they would have done something like that- I'm just stating it for emphasis)

I sincerely hope this helps prospective salaried management. Oh, and for 'Shift Supervisors'- yeah, you're getting crapped on. ASM's, and SM's earn 2 to 3 times your meager hourly wage... try 45 -60+K annually + a little bonus. I have the paycheck stub to prove it. I dont care what the DM tells you.

i actually just recently quit. i was hired last october being full time, and was told right after the holidays were over i was going to start training to become a photo lab tech and get a raise. so after the holidays i ask about training, im told ill be trained when the new machine comes in. so, a week later, the new machine comes in. i ask about training again, im now told ill be trained after the main photo lab tech was trained.

so, that was another 2 weeks. its now the end of january, and a new girl is hired part time. i find out the new girl is getting trained in photo. i ask about my training, yet again, this time i start my training the next day. i go in all excited about learning new things, and about 3 hours into my shift im wondering when its going to start, so i ask the tech when she wants to start.

so guess what she tells me? "your no longer getting trained in photo. i was told not to train you because there training the new girl". i was very dissapointed, but whatever, maybe some other day. so now, i go in the next week and see i work 4 days. new girl works 5. it continues like this until im working barely 10 hours a week, while new girl has 40!

i approach my store and assistant manager about this and am told "thats the way it is." they cut me down to part time for absolutely no reason, and gave this new girl all my hours and my basically, my job! i only made 7.15 an hour, and i support myself. tell me, how am i supposed to make a 43 dollar payment a week on a computer, put 15 dollars of gas in my car, buy my 60 dollars worth of groceries, and buy 20 dollars worth of cell phone minutes on a 60 dollar paycheck? so, i quit.

ive heard this from ex-employees too, they did the same thing to them. i honestly think they only hired me for extra holiday help, then forced me to quit instead of laying me off so i couldnt do anything about it. idiots. i am never working there, or shopping there, again!

CVS doesn't care about anything or anybody

The key to success at CVS is to be a complete and total suck up to your boss. It doesn't matter if you are the best at what you do, if all the customers love you, if you show up everyday to work and never call in sick. If you don't suck up to your boss, you will never get anywhere.

I was an employee of CVS for 5 years, and I worked in three different stores. I have yet to meet a satisfied CVS employee. Andy Sperling, the Pharmacy Supervisor for my district, really did a great job screwing me in my time there.

I started as a pharmacy technician at 16, making just under 6 bucks an hour. I sat there and did a great job working for 4 years before getting a substatial raise. People who got hired after me, started out making more per hour than I was getting.

I was not a bad employee, in fact I was going to pharmacy school to become a pharmacist. Pharmacists are in great demand now, and it would have been wise for them to treat me with just a little respect. Finally, I got into pharmacy school and got my Ohio State Board of Pharmacy liscense. So they raised me up to what I thought was intern pay at $9/hr. When I got back to school in the fall, I found out most of them were working for Kroger and making $12/hr! I called Sperling and told him I needed a raise. He promised $13/hr when I got back for Christmas Break.

Christmas Break came and I was still making $9/hr. Easter Break came and I was STILL making $9/hr. After multiple calls to Andy and his boss(who also never returned any of my calls) I finally got a raise. But Andy didn't tell me directly. He told my immediate boss, the pharmacist in charge. Andy told my boss that he had informed me that I would be receiving a raise to $10/hr. So I waited 9 months to get a raise that was $3 short of what I was promised.

I took an intern position with a competing chain, and Sperling never called me back. Before I told anyone I quit, Sperling came to my school, saw me, and said nothing to me, even though he had known me for five years.

I am going to be finishing pharmacy school in a few years, and CVS is the one company I will never consider signing with no matter how much money they offer me, because I know I will not get it.

I use to work as a phamacist for CVS. I started back in 1999 and left about a couple of months ago. CVS use to be a company that cared about its employees but now they are all about $$. The store I worked at increased its sale by almost 35% compared to last year, and yet they slashed tech. hours and provided no overlap pharmacists. The store did about 3500 prescirptions a week and only provided 12 hours of overlap pharmacist hours. I was working like a maching trying to verify prescriptions, talking to octors, and providing patient consultation sometimes doing several things at once. I warned my pharmacy supervisor that not providing an overlap pharmacist could be fatal but there was no action from the management. I finally had to leave the company because I was scared of making a fatal error. If I was a patient, I would rather go to an independent pharmacy where there is a pharacist patient relationship and pharamcists are not forced to work in a hazardous conditions.

I believe that you have just had a negative experience with CVS. I've been with CVS for 3 years and feel that it is the best job that I have ever had. I don't know who told you that they don't care about their customers. At meetings all we stress is customer service so someone lied to you. Get your facts straight before you go bashing a great company. And Its Eckerd not Eckert thats coming to your town. Just for future reference CVS just bought Eckerd out. So down where you live CVS actually owns the Eckerds. I am a pharmacy student and I am very happy with my work with CVS and hope to continue as a pharmacist with CVS once I graduate from Pharmacy School.

Was hired, I thought

I applied for a job as a shift manager in my local CVS. Was told I was hired, went for drug test, and signed for an employement background check.
Everytime I called for a schedule, was told that background check was not back. Maybe because I was from another state, I was told, it would take longer. I advised Manager Michael, that it was a nationwide database.
After 3 weeks of run around, I took another job.
According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I could request,in writing, a copy of my report. What they asked, and what they were told. This is in the event that there is false information in your report. I have sent two letters, certified mail, return receipt requested, with a cc to the CEO. Have all my cards back, and after 6 weeks, still no response.

In a way, I'm very glad I did not (take or get?) that job!!!

CVS does not care, from the hourly worker, to the manager, to the CEO!
