I purchased the Cyberhome DVD recorder off HSN in November 2003. I hooked it up, everything was fine, between then and May 2003 I only used it to record one time, the rest of the time I used it just for playing DVD movies.

In May 2003 the system froze up. No buttons would work at all, tray would not open. I called HSN, and they gave me the phone number for Cyberhome. Called the Cyberhome number, was on hold for hours, gave up. Next day, called again,on hold for hours, finally get someone. They told me to keep fooling with the buttons and eventually it would open. They sent me discs to upgrade. Tray still wouldn't open! Only other option was to send back to them with 89 dollars. I did not want to do that, had by then heard bad reports on internet about them.

Called HSN three times. They act like you are the only one complaining, and I know that is an outright lie. Even talked to a supervisor, still no help. They said go through Cyberhome, and they are about impossible to get hold of. Will never buy from HSN again. They do not stand behind their products at all. Their bulletin boards are full of complaints about this very product!

Use Crt Card Company for help

AUTHOR: Frank - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 03, 2005

I'm also a victim of Cyberhome DVD and HSN. My problems started within a couple of days o9f getting DVD.

HSN gave great mouth service but failed from that point on. Cyberhome also wanted money to fix the DVD because of the delays with HSN. After a few months I just call the Crt Card company for help and a Crt until resolved.

Another bad experience

AUTHOR: Rick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 20, 2005

Bought 3/04 Quit 6/05 after very light use. Refuses to open. Nothing but "CYBERHOME" in the display. They didn't offer me any resolution except for the following response to my email (after 3 days) -

"When did you purchase the unit?

If you don't have the receipt then you will have to pay a service fee.

If you do have the receipt and purchased 5/04 and lower then you'll have to
pay a service fee."

No suggestions, no special program. Guess I know what they're interested in.

Next time, get the Extended Protection Plan....

AUTHOR: Magic - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 21, 2005

For a small additional fee, you can get the extended Protection plan directly through HSN. It helps to avoid problems like this. If there's a manufacturer's problem, then the manufacturer is supposed to be able to take the item back (of course YOU pay shipping BOTH ways) under warranty. Check the warranty on ALL electronic items. Most are only 90 days.

You people are ridiculous

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 15, 2004

HSN stands behind their products 100%, however there is a 30 day money back guarantee no questions asked from the day you receive the product in your home. This is made very clear on air as well as on the internet web page for HSN and also on the packing slips that are included with the merchandise. Most of the time with electronics additional warranties are offered at the time of purchase, if you chose not pay for an additional warranty past the manufacturers and your product needs repair after the 30 day guarantee that is your responsibility. If HSN let people return items that break or stop working after months of use or years then that would not be fair to HSN. People could just be trying to get their money back because they're broke or they may have damaged the products themselves. Like most business out there that sell products that is correct HSN does not have a "forever guarantee send back whenever you feel like it". You people are ridiculous. Thats like going to the store and buying something or even a car lot and getting a car-trying it out for a year and then you decide you don't like it anymore, give me my money back (HA), they'll laugh at you in the face.

Cyberhome: Special Repair/Replacement Offer for DVD Recorders

AUTHOR: Stacy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 26, 2004

I was also a victim of HSN's sale of the Cyberhome DVR that broke down after several months. HSN would do nothing to stand behind their sale. Cyberhome wanted $90 for someone to look at it. Finally after 7-8 months, Cyberhome has stepped up and are offering this:

"If you own a CyberHome DVD Recorder and have experienced certain problems, you may be eligible for special repair or replacement options..."

[DELETED]

I also pased this info on to HSN to post on their 'Recalls' page which they have not done yet... leads me to beleive once they have your money they don't care about resolutions to your problems.

Hope this helps!
