bought a computer with a flat monitor included, few days after the first month the flat monitor got dammaged with a vertical line in it. They told they will replace the monitor but sent a refurbished monitor. they didn't accept to send a new one.
At this moment I have a complaint against them in the department of consumer affairs.

Regarding refurb under the warranty these companies can actually replace your computer

AUTHOR: Maria - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 07, 2005

Jason is right, only in that under the warranty these companies can actually replace your computer and/or parts w/ refurbs, in addition, they can even have scratches on them, unfortunately.

On another note, procedurally, you need to give the company reasonable time to cure this issue. However, if you send the product back and/or have in house service and Dell continues to send you junk, after several attempts to no avail, that is when you file your complaint.

At one time, refurbs might have been reputable, but from past experience over serveral months of receiving multiple refurbs in an attempt to cure and to no avail, that's not reasonable and you have a right to be compensated for your loss. Good Luck, I'm routing for you!

I know how fustrating the whole process is, especially when you have to do it over and over multiple times, and the company could care less, because it is all about the mighty buck; however, always remember that what comes around will eventually come back around and give these companies a boot they deserve!

Pretty standard Nothing out of line about this

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 27, 2005

Nothing out of line about this. In general, if you check the warranty it will tell you that they reserve the right to either repair your monitor or send a replacement. Nowhere will it say that they will send you a new monitor. They are actually helping you by sending a refurb in place of repairing your monitor because it could take upwards of a month to repair your monitor.

Refurbished can also mean any number of things. When you return your monitor, it will go out to someone else after being repaired as "refurbished". In addition, they will honor the original warranty period on the refurbished monitor, so if you're worried about getting a lemon, if it breaks under warranty, they'll send another one.

With TV's and most computer parts nowadays, it is actually far better to get a refurb than a new monitor. If a part is going to fail, it will generally fail within the first 2 to 3 months of ownership. Especially mass-produced TVs/monitors that go over wave soldering machines.

Your complaint won't go anywhere, and really if you read your warranty documentation, probably isn't even valid.
