My Aunt asked me about purchasing a Dell computer, she had found an ad on an insert in the local news paper. The reason she came to me is I would be the one that would be working on her system for her if she had issues with the system, DO NOT prefer to work on a DELL system, but I have many clients that have fallen for the hype that DELL is a wonderful computer. She is also elderly and a recent widow.

She called the number and purchased both a desk top and a lap top. She was then hit with the Dell preferred customer account. She aggreed to this and 5 days later she had her computers. 2 days later she recieved a call from someone in PA asking her WHY she would buy her fiance a Dell computer?? My aunt had no idea who this person was or even what she was talking about.

When my Aunt recieved the Dell Bill it showed her purchases and also a purchase sending a system to PA. She contacted Dell and of course did not get an English speaking person, who told her she was responsible for payment.

She, through my advice sent Dell the entire payment for the computers she purchased and also a letter explaining that she did not order and ship to someone else this other computer and would not pay for it.

After 4 other calls to Dell, she had her attorney contact Dell. She continued to get a bill. She continued to call Dell and continued to talk to someone that could not speak english! She wrote numerous letters.
She filed a complaint through the Attorney Generals office in our state and still continued to get billed.

Finally a collection agency called her, this seemed to be the only way that she could comunicate with Dell. They are the only ones that were able to speak to Dell about this. We are still awaiting an answer to see if the issue has been cleared up.

This has been approximately 9 months now. No one has EXPLAINED WHY someone would have her Dell preferred account number. How it was gotten?? If the matter is completely cleared from her credit records. Not even a "we are sorry!!!" I work in the computer industry and Dell sends me "free gifts" all the time. The least they could do once it is cleared up is send her a free camera or something, with an explaination how her information was obtained!

The original order was place from a land line phone! To the number provided in the Dell Ad that is on the back of the magazine insert in most every Sunday newspaper in the USA.
