My name is Joshua I attended and graduate from Devry University Pomona CA, in June 2007.

I still have no job remotely close to my study "BSTM." I have being sending my resume everywhere from coscto to Boeing. During my time at Devry I was luted in from the beginining, with promises of in the door opportunities, and that they had "connections."

I to went threw internet class trouble they would charge so much, if errors happened you would pay, for that mistake and it was always their fualt, the internet professor who was from Florida who was teaching science environment was at the same level as FOREST GUMP. Me and her gaught into some battle and she dumb. Expensive classes, dumb teachers, technical problems, no internship jobs, lousy career center, when you go in there before you graudate a career advisor comes in and give a tap a dance show he sounded like a used car salesman.

Lying to me about "you better buy a suit and stay buy the phone." That was in June 2007 when I graduated. Last week the career service dean admitted to me that the school did not get prepared for the BSTM program and offered the BS program when they new that job market know devry for technical, computer, programs and do not search for management graduates at DEVRY.

I called corporate office of Devry I complained, I complained to the BBB, I am looking for an attorney, I want to sue these liars, everytime I go in to see if they have anything they give me the same crap speech, we are on it. I am also searching for a job on my own, numerous job agenies, emailing, 4 interview since June, I dont think that this Degree and Devry are considered as a college. That is why nobody is recognizing my degree, I worked my a*s off and now that I found numerous other students who have the same experience i feel like a mother (*&(&*( sucker.

This is a real bad feeling. If anyone know who the lawyer was who helped the class action suite please hit me up, I want to after this school, these administrative gangbangers corporate bastards, need to be sent to guantanomo bay prison for Terroising our lives, future and dreems.

Reply to Joshua's Report

AUTHOR: Concerned - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, August 15, 2009

I distinctly remember Joshua, and he is a nice guy but sadly misguided in his assessment. He should take a long hard look at himself and try to remember his poor work ethic when he attended school. He should think of all the material he missed not attending classes and not paying attention when he did attend.

He should remember always needing someone to do his work for him instead of trying to do it himself, and socializing while someone was doing it for him and not even paying attention to what they were doing for him. I remember him very well because he was always one of my favorite people and was extremely likeable to most everyone around him. That did not make him a good student though. He lacks the level of maturity it takes to become a success and needs some soul-searching.

At this point his writing is atrocious, and I think that may be obvious to the people he applies to for jobs. I think if he cleans that up he may stand a better chance, and stop blaming others for what is lacking on his part.

He said that one of the places he applied for a job was at Costco, and in spite of the fact that he worked as a manager at Costco while attending DeVry, he still does not know how to spell the name of that company, and lies about applying there when in fact he worked there and may still be working there for all I know.

Josh should take a look inward and clean up his act, because he has great personality, and with all the other ingredients being equal, I think he will find the type of employment he seeks. Good luck Josh.

Wow, I think the author of this report has more issues than the college he went to. Talk about very poor use of grammar and the English language in general! What, you didn't learn that in grade school??? Can't be blaming that on DeVry!

DeVry is one of the better adult learning schools that is regionally accredited available out there. I'm attending the DeVry in Westminster, CO and I haven't been happier! I was actually challenged in my online courses. Some required me staying up many hours into the night on a few occasions. My previous education, Westwood College, was so watered down I still passed the course even though I turned in work with very little effort put in to it! It got so bad there I was pretty much forced to transfer myself, and all my credits, to DeVry.

It's too bad you claim to have had a bad experience. It all starts with the students and generally not the school. Don't blame the school if you have too many loans and bills to pay back!

The proof is in the...

The report presented here shows that this person is unable to compose a sentence, use proper grammar or spell. Yet, he doesn't think that is his problem.

I've been in management and reviewing resumes, and hiring people for 25+ years. I think the problem here is the candidate and his presentation. And he proves that by showing us he expects having attended or graduated from a program to be enough. It just isn't so.

Someone with DeVry credentials is acceptable, but not because of the credentials! The same can be said for virtually any credentialed candidate.

And the presentation and problems shown by that person say much more bad about him than any school or credential could say as a positive.

I agree, DeVry is not a Scam or a Waste...

I was a student of DeVry University and recently graduated in 2004 from the Long Beach Campus. My experience at DeVry was wonderful as I interacted with the school body and staff. Sure you have your problems here and there, but it's just like any other higher level education college or university, where you have to wait in line for things you think you took care of or problems to resolve. Upon graduation, I made my own destiny of finding my own career by utilizing the resources that were available from the school. I found a wonderful career making more than what the statistics tell about graduates of DeVry, before I graduated!

The university does not promise you a "job" after you complete your degree, for that matter no university or college will promise you a "job". You have to be active in finding an opportunity for yourself and building on that. The Career Services department was helpful in the services they promise, but remember they are not job hunters for you. They will assist you with the transition process of a student to a professional and advise you. Not guarantee you a job upon graduation.

For that matter, it really upsets me when people try to blame their own misfortune on something or someone else. They don't want to take their own action and expect a free ride. All of my colleagues that graduated in my class have prosperous careers. Some had really well jobs before attending, but the degree allowed them to be promoted or receive raises in their respective fields. That is the reflection of the 90/41 statistics that are in place, but nowhere in there does it say that DeVry was able to attain that for graduates. It merely states what DeVry University Alumni are making in the competitive job market. Adding to that, it is up to employers to hire you. Every organization or company have their own set of policies or regulations in place for the recruitment of new employees.

With any organization, college or university there is always room for improvement, and I strongly believe DeVry University should improve in branding its name to be recognized as a strong higher education institution, that way the people who try to blame their problems or misfortunes on admissions representatives or staff can understand that no one can promise you anything.

By the way I also attended the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University with my degree in Business Administration from DeVry University.

Cheers!

Satisfied DeVry Alumni

DeVry University isn't a scam, nor is it a waste.

AUTHOR: Ryan B - (U.S.A.)

First off, DeVry is not a Diploma Mill, which some people seem to think. I am a current student at the DeVry University in Fort Washington, PA. So far I have had excellent professors, great courses, and I am also enrolling in the Co-op program, in which case I will be working for Xerox. I'm sure quality of the school varies from area to area, but so far I am extremely satisfied with my time here at DeVry and I would like to really dispel any myths that angry, apathetic failures have made about this school.

From my personal standpoint, all of these "DeVry is a scam", "DeVry sux!!11one" etc., posts on this website are made by people who either attended and dropped out, or attended and failed out due to inability to perform. It is obvious that these ripoff reports are just disgruntled customers who ruined their own futures and are trying to ruin the futures of others by posting these slanderous, and more importantly FALSE reports.

The truth is, they do have connections with other companies, they have an entire packet full of the companies that they are partnered with for a Co-Op program, and all of them are reputable organizations.

I guarantee that you won't be disappointed if you attend DeVry. Yes, their acceptance rates are pretty high because they seem to enjoy giving everyone an opportunity. So do some REAL research before you let these misinformed individuals sway your view on DeVry.
