Direct Buy - Rick & Barbara Smith - Ryan Smith Cult Membership Club Conyers Georgia

I would like to express my utter frustration with my experience and visit at a new DirectBuy Center in Conyers, Georgia that opened mid last year (I think they finally opened in May or June 2008).

My husband & I showed up at the showroom located in Conyers, GA back in January. With the visitor's pass in hand, we were greeted by a young man who said he was Ryan.

We sat at a table with this person for about 10 minutes. After a little small talk with him reciting a memorized script, we learned a little bit about the way you can save money by ordering from catalogs. We were not shown catalogs to verify what he said was the truth.

We did not get a chance to tour the showroom as promised on the commercial. We just sat in our chairs and just looked around the showroom from where we were sitting. We were then herded into a room with two other couples. Ryan proceeded to recite yet an even longer script as to the concept of DirectBuy.

First of all, he talked so fast that we couldn't understand most, if not all, of what he had to say. Thank goodness the video took up most of the presentation.

After the 45 minute session, we were taken back to another table where he proceeded to try to pressure us into forking over $5,000. When his tactics didn't work, he went to get the guns to reinforce the hard close. He brought some big fat elderly man over by the name of Rick.

He proceeded to pressure us while bragging about building this $2 million dollar building which houses DirectBuy and that shopping here is like "THE COUNTRY CLUB OF SHOPPPING."

He talked about the fact that his family is from Canada and went on and on about how he just paid out a big sum for his daughter & son's wedding and that his son graduated from Clemson, and worked for corporate DirectBuy and told him about this great opportunity to open a franchise for his son and bluh bluh bluh bluh. He talked about everything under the sun except this substantial membership fee.

We are not emotional buyers and were not impressed with his attempt to get $5,000 from us to help him recoop his past financial obligations.

Then this Ryan person starts chiming in with his fast talking and aggressive behavior. After my husband, again, told him that he doesn't make MAJOR FINANCIAL decisions on an emotional impulse, Ryan said "IT IS WHAT IT IS" and basically we can take the membership or leave it. So we left it.

When he realized that we were not joining, Ryan became very ARROGANT and made comments in reference to us being ignorant for not "getting it" and not believing what he wanted us to believe. We felt like we were just treated like a number. A number to the tune of $5,000.00. God bless your employees!!

TO YOU RYAN: "Oh we get the concept. What's not to get. Hell everyone wants to save money in this economy. Great concept but not worth $5,000."

So you "DON'T GET IT" MY MONEY THAT IS!! It is unbelievable that you people expect consumers to pay this exhorbant amount of money in this economy on hopes and dreams. Wake up to get into reality.

I don't know if you treat people like this in Canada, but in America, we stand up for what we believe in. And if you don't like the way we challenge you people, hell take your asses back to Canada. Obviously you want to be around us or you wouldn't co-mingle with us.

But don't try to take advantage of Americans all for the sake of the old mighty dollar. I hope you all have your citizenship papers in order. I will find out!

Later we found out that this Ryan person is the son of the owners. The owners are (Rick) Richard & Barbara Smith. If this is the way a family business is run, their doors will be closed by the end of the year. Can't happen too soon. Find yourselves a day job.

I hope this reaches everyone who was wondering what DIRECTBUY is all about. They don't care about people, just about your wallet.
