I was also mailed the envelope stuffing job offer from Direct Cards and knew immediately that this was a mail fraud scam. Any enterprise involved in the legitimate business of mass mailings would not have mailed out an offer of employment with a regular 37-cent postage stamp -- they would have procured the bulk mailing rate for their mailings from the US Postal Service.

I used their return envelope to mail them a copy of one of the rip-off reports I found on this site, along with an extremely explicit letter explaining my outrage. It seemed a waste of 37 cents to contact them. I have used this site before to discover information on deceptive enterprises, and am greatly thankful for its existence.

Follow-up2 - Received Card instead of Letter

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 11, 2004

I received a packet of "work at home opportunities" that consisted of about 50 3x5 cards and around 10 5x7 cards from various "companies" offering everything from chain letter scams to what appear to be legitimate business opportunities (but who knows). I was surprised to find a 5x7 card from Direct Cards in this packet.

It basically pitches the same information as the yellow letter that I had earlier received, but with this twist: "...the circulars that you will be inserting into these envelopes will be letters promoting Arts & Crafts assembly offers." So these scam artists have combined both the "envelope stuffing scam" and the "home assembly scam" into one "ultra scam."

They are still requesting their $39.00 "reimbursable deposit" and $6.00 "set-up fee" and all other information (P.O. Box, Zip, etc.) remains unchanged. This card and the way it came packaged looks much more professional than the yellow letter that most of us have received, so beware!

Just a follow-up note on Direct Cards: Anyone having problems with this bogus enterprise should file a mail fraud complaint at the United States Postal Service web site, and also file a complaint at the Better Business Bureau site.
