direct tv desceptive trade practices El Segundo California

On 09/19/2014, I called a local number to Direct TV, to see what the costs would be to subscribe to their services. They tried every sales tactic to give them a credit card number so they could charge $1., " to get things rolling". I repeatedly refused.

They asked for my SS#, and I refused-absolutely!!

Using ONLY my name, they obtained a credit report (hard inquiry) through Experian.

This caused me a serious problem, because I am in the middle of refinancing my home.

Hard inquiries lower a person's credit score.

I called Experian. They could/would not explain how this could have happenned. The supervisor was ruder than the customer service rep. I have been paying experian $18.00 a month , for years, to protect me from ID theft and advise me of attempts to access my credit.

After hours of research, on the web, I now suspect that the two companies are co conspirators.

When you call one they blame the other and vice versa.

BEWARE of both companies.
