I went online in Aug of 2003 and looked at direct tv online. They advertised that you could get direct tv installed free after a rebate. They came in a truck with the DIRECT TV logo all over the truck. The system was installed and we began our nightmare with direct tv. 6 weeks went by and no check. months went by and no check. I was getting sick of calling and waiting for someone to answer the line. After about four months of this they started telling me that they had problems with Primstar and they were the ones who had to pay me. Call them up was their answer! I am not sure of the connection but they had a deal of some kind with primstar to do the installs. They (DIRECT TV)gave me a phone(for Primstar) number and it was just a message, no one would talk to you.

One month I made a payment over the phone and it was to be 100.00 dollars. I told the girl on the phone only pay for the month I owe and she took 200.00 out of my account. She told me she could not put the money back. Don't do this with them! They will take what they feel you owe. With a lot of phone calls and threats to them that they did not take what I authorized they put it back. It was a hassel and hours on the phone arguing.

After six months and no check for the rebate one of the boxes failed. I called them up and they told me the box was mine and I had to buy a new one. My hands were tied being that my mother was using the box while their house was being built. She is a CNN freek and thats all she likes to watch. So I told them to send the box. They told me it would cost 49.99. But the thing is I HAD to send them back the old box or be charged another 49.99. But wait the old box is mine right? It's all wrong, everyone says you can't have you cake and eat it too. Direct tv does! The last straw! After 8 months direct tv sent me my rebate check. After all it was mine they said I would get a rebate check and they sent it to me. We got the check on a friday and put it in the back. That very Sunday morning I got a call from direct tv saying they had stoped payment on the check. After 8 months they sent me a check and stoped payment on it. I went to my bank and told them what had happened and they said thay did stop the payment. I got charged 5.00.00 for the BAD check! I have to tell you I was pissed with them. I called them up two months before my year and told them to shut the system off. They would not take back their boxes or my boxes, it depends on how you look at that. If it's in favor of them making money then it's their boxes if not then of course the boxes are mine.

Because of all the hassle this company has put me through I will never pay them the money I owe them. They have lied and cheated. They have since put my name in collection after two months of not paying. Funny I had to wait 8 months with no results but thats ok. Whats right is right whats wrong is wrong.

Oh they did give me a credit on my accout after I screamed and yelled on the phone about the check. But with the 50.00 dollar box that was mine in the first place and the late charges I owe them money. It will cost them more to get that money than it's worth to them. I can promise this. Don't use this company! If you read the complaints on this system and have lived through the nightmare then you know it's all true. Save yourself the hassle and total aggravation with this company. And how many times did I have to call them to take off the NFL ticket that they kept putting on my bill. Telling them over and over again not to put it on again. And the waiting for someone to answer my call. And after reading some of the complaints on here they now black out after you pay big dollars to get it. just another dirty deal with them.
