Last December, I switched from Dish Network to DirecTV after they solicited my custom via mailing.

When I called, I explained that I had the Dish Network Service and that I could record a show on my DVR and watch it in another room as one receiver serviced two TVs. I was told that this service would soon be available to me and when the technician installed my system he actually informed me that that service would be available in about a month.

I asked what I needed to do and was told that my system would receive an automatic download from the satellite when the program started and that I would not have to do anything.

Subsequently when I saw the advertised program on TV I called to find out why my system was not working and I was told that it was because I had not ordered the service and that if I wanted it, I would have to pay about $500.00 for the equipment. I told the rep what I was told and it was explained to me that the tech gave me information that he thought to be true but that had changed and that I was to put it in the vernacular "s**t out of luck".

I asked to speak to a manager and when he repeated the same information to me I asked to cancel my service and was informed that I was in a 2 year contract and that it would cost me $480.00 to leave early.

Currently I have an issue with my signal and cakked on Sunday 8/8/10 and was given a date of Wednesday 8/11 to have a tech come out to carry out the repairs. The tech did come as promised and apparently thought that the problem was fixed and so left. When I got home and tried to use the TV, found that the problem was not taken care of. I again called and was told that it would now be treated as a priority. The priority time is now for Saturday 8/14.

DirecTV can be counted to to provide very good "customer no service" and their telephone reps are the sorriest people around as all they seem to be able to offer is their apologies.
